Watching Buffy at a slow pace approximating the original broadcast dates and I have to say that Sunnydale is one town I would not want to move to no matter what the incentive.
Season one is superb so far.

I'm happy to announce that your ass was just located wandering the streets in a daze. Some kind soul has taken it it, fed it, and given it a warm place to sleep. It should be returned to you in the morning, no worse for the wear.

No need to thank me...just one of the many public services I provide :p

More thoughts on this Buffy show:
    0) This fictional town certainly has a good supply of "Red Shirts" to kill off in creative fashions. The principal being eaten by possessed students was different.
    1) I remember reading a few years back that Sarah was not available for a feature film version/endcap/whatever of this show because she was filming one of the live action scooby doo films. Not the right choice if you ask me, those films were fairly awful at best, and I would watch a film version based on the buffy TV show characters just after seeing the first 6 episodes. It has been too many years for me to recall specifics on how the 1992 film is on plot, characters, or how what they changed for the weekly show, but if they had waited long enough there would have been more than enough divergence in any event.

The series was definitely better, but the Buffy movie had a certain charm of its own.

I laid down to watch Ken Burns' documentary about the dust bowl, hoping it would lull me to sleep, but instead I laid here, horrified and glued to the screen all the way through part one. I thought I knew about the dust bowl...but not really. Jesus Christ.

Yeah, learning about black blizzards really underscored the harsh living conditions they had back then.
I imagine dying by suffocating on dust is one of the worst ways to die.

Going with 90's shows that I most definitely did watch:
Forever Knight was a better vampire show, and arguably one of the better ones in the genre overall even going back to the early cinematic days of Nosferatu. Buffy does have an admittedly difference focus with the high school environment rather than the main character being a 1200 year old Toronto homicide cop that was turned by a 2,000 year old former Roman general. Forever Knight also had a female lead that was absolutely gorgeous in my own very biased opinion more than Sarah Michelle Gellar ever has been.
Forever Knight, Silk Stalkings, Dark Justice, and of course The Kids in the Hall were my favourite shows by far to watch. CBS late night had a stellar lineup then. If a show aired in the mid to late 90's then it is far more likely that I missed it, possibly entirely. And most definitely intentionally in the case of shows like Friends and Sienfield.
The second best era of SNL from about '91 to '94 (the best being the early years in the mid 70's) was a treat to watch as well with a solid cast that included Hartman, Farley, Spade, etc, etc.

You are just watching season one. Wait until you have seen a few more seasons. In my opinion, season one was the weakest of the whole series. They were still working on developing the characters and the whole idea of the larger story arcs versus villain of the week (it didn't help that it was a short season as well). And quite frankly... I think the Master was the weakest villain they came up with.

Also, once you are finished the series, there is a Buffy comicbook series that continues the series. It's quite good.

Fremen, you need to get a bed like this hotel has. Honestly, it's not just comfortable, it's fucking comfortable.

    1) I mean it, I need to bring this bed home with me. I haven't slept this well in weeks.
    2) This is not an invite for you, Fremen, to share this bed with me. Get your own!
    3) Notice, I didn't say no to anyone else but Fremen (hello, ladies).

Looking at the Iowa state fair, it's very easy to see why America has such a horrible global reputation for its citizens and their food choices.
