Client walked in with his rhodesian ridgeback this morning, dog had been trembling and yelping in pain when her chest was touched for two days. They did radiographs and found that the dog has a broken neck and needs emergency surgery. The xray images were really alarming. Never seen anything like it. If she had gone on like that for much longer, she would have definitely become paralyzed. Looking at the xrays you'd think it's a miracle that she's not already.

 

Maybe show the airlines a picture of the kickass TFP ladies to try and scare them.

And it's making me a little paranoid about the way Benjen pulls when he has the choke collar on.

In other, sillier news, I just decided to get a smartphone. There is a Buffy trivia app that just came out.

Edit: It's only on iOS. So, nope. Maybe I can get Eden to get it.

 

The doc thinks it was an accident of some kind. She said that the dog could have flipped backward chasing something or run into something. She doesn't suspect abuse. The owner has no idea how it happened. Kind of a mystery.

 

It worked. I'm set to arrive around 11PM. Blame Air Canada.

Don't care for coke collars on smaller dogs. Even normal collars can injure small dogs. Our neighbor lost their Yorkie when after years of wearing a collar its esophagus collapsed. Not from being too tight but from the dog pulling against its lead or tether when outside. My son's dog has a vest to wear when taken for a walk. That distributed the force across its body.

 

Benjen is, we think, a lab/chow/maybe Golden mix, so not very small. He's only recently started with the excessive pulling, so I'm not entirely sure what's up with that. The choke collar was a last resort, after he slipped out of his regular collar AND ripped a vest. I'm working with him on the pulling thing, but all training goes right out when he sees a squirrel or a bird :/
