fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

With a slight change in punctuation you can be a Holy Roller:
    Exam. In 35 minutes Jesus.
    Tonight: Sex. Finally Christ.

Did my suspension on the z3 yesterday with the help of someone. Amazingly simple, but still difficult. I'm tired and beat. Need another weekend to rest.

A very random thing happened on Saturday afternoon. I was at my parents' house getting ready to leave when the mail came. In it was a letter from a family friend from many years ago. When I was 5-6 years old he dated my mom's sister fairly seriously, but they ended up breaking up. Not long after he moved out of state and contact was very sporadic. He's an uncle to a couple friends of mine, so I'd hear about him occasionally, but I haven't talked to him in years. Anyway, enclosed with the letter was a press clipping about me from when I was very young, I believe 6 years old. He had clipped it from the local paper and saved it years ago, then stumbled across it while packing some things up to move. I thought it was very kind of him to forward it on.

I am JM. I cannot believe my mom dressed me in that sweater.

I remember the READaTHON called for a set pledge per book read. My dad took it to work and got tons of guys he worked with to pledge (IIRC, most were $.05-.20/book), my mom got a bunch of her friends to do the same. My Grandpa and my parents pledged $.50/book. I can't remember how long we had (I think it might've been a month?), but I do remember my parents forcing me to stop counting the books at 50 because they didn't want to have to go back to everyone they knew with an over the top amount they owed. :p

That's the first time I remember raising money for a charity, and I remember how cool I thought it was that a few nickles and dimes added up to almost $250 (not too shabby in 1984).

/random walk down memory lane for the day

Oh, man! Readathons! I wish I still had all my awards from that stuff. We did one every year in later elementary school where it followed the trail of the Iditarod, and every book was equal to some amount of mileage. Being 1) competitive, and 2) a gifted reader, I smoked everyone. Same with those reading contests in earlier grades--in 1st grade, if we read 500 books, we got to have a pizza party at the teacher's house, and in 2nd grade, if we read 100 chapter books, we got to have a sleepover at the teacher's house. Since there was no money involved, my parents were most willing co-conspirators; my mom would check out a Xerox box of books from the library every week for me to read.

Also, I've decided I really need a dog if my husband is going to have a job where he travels a lot.

My problem is that I sleep like shit with him gone. I hear every little noise and have these weird dreams that people are breaking into the house. I am a Very Grumpy Snowy today.

A dog would at least sound an alarm if needed. I'd also prefer a breed that is protective.

That's pretty cool, Borla. Thanks for sharing.

Though, I see you had trouble holding your big melon straight, even at that early age. :D

  13. At least the sweater distracts the viewer from the size of his gourd. Mom, knew what she was doing.
