Hehe, I've been guilty of purposefully staying other places "accidently" so that I could have my freedom. Not for anything epic, just to have a few hours out and about to myself without feeling obligated to invite anyone.

My run this morning as a death march. I'm glad someone had a good one.

I got busted for that a few years ago. One of my coworkers figured out that I was staying in the same hotel that visiting NBA teams used and that the Bulls were in town.

Hubs leaves today for a conference and will be back Tuesday. He's going to Napa without me :( I don't know what I'm more bummed about--where he's going and I'm not or the fact that he's going to be gone!

Just waiting for the lunch bell to ring. Looking forward to sitting in a nice air conditioned theater this weekend and watching what I hope is a dumb, violent movie. No deep thought for this one. It's too hot for that nonsense.

Do you enjoy mowing the lawn?
My buddy's girlfriend enjoys mowing. It stumps us, but I think it might be cathartic for her.

Yep, I like it. I put in some earphones and just go. Outside chores are much better than inside chores.

Nothing says love like patting the head of the woman throwing up in the bucket in your lap.

The things we do... we do for love. And to keep the couch from getting sprayed by hot vomit.

Who knew that sun poisoning could cause such vomiting? It's a wild world out there, folks.

Strange: I just found a postcard I received from the author Katherine Paterson (Lyddie, Jacob Have I Loved, Bridge to Terabithia) in response to a letter I wrote her. We had to write an author for a project in sixth grade, and since I had just read Lyddie, I wrote her and asked about the process behind writing the novel, which is about a young girl/woman working at the Lowell mills. Apparently, I also asked her if there were any more books I could read about the mills, and she wrote, "There aren't a lot of books for young people on the movement, but you might enjoy Women at Work by Thomas Dublin." Why is this strange? I just used Women at Work for a paired text project this spring for a literacy course; I paired excerpts from Women at Work with Lyddie. I'd completely forgotten about her recommendation in the intervening 19 years.

Definitely putting this postcard somewhere safe.
