We are leaving this town and spending the weekend at the coast. The beach is steps from the campsite. It's supposed to be in the 90s this afternoon. The goal is to be gone from here before the mercury spikes.

Yeah, I don't like to play that too unless my tongue is firmly in cheek. It's not like I need nice a lot of clothes and a nice car.

As long as the base necessities are covered in addition to the occasional modest entertainment, I'm not about to complain.

Many people have it much, much worse. The problem is comparing myself to the guys rolling by my apartment, driving vehicles made by Porsche, Audi, Maserati, BMW, Lexus, etc. There seems to be a lot more pricy cars on the road here. I guess that's a good sign of something. Right?

So there's this documentary on Netflix streaming about Snoop Dogg making a reggae album in Jamaica - it's called Reincarnated. I started watching it on a whim this morning, but it's pretty good. Snoop is an alright cat. I recommend it.

Snoop is far more intelligent than I think most people give him credit for.

    Maybe.

It's funny. I've worked on so many books on personal finance that when I see a guy cruising around in an expensive car—like a late-model $90,000- $100,000+ car such as the Audi A8 I saw yesterday (I think it's the first time I've seen one of those)—I wonder if he's wealthy or simply looking the part. Maybe he's a millionaire, and it's no big deal. Maybe he makes $150,000 a year, and it's no different for him to finance it than an adequately employed recent college grad financing a Toyota Corolla.

However, if he's got the cash flow in the low six figures but has a $100,000 car, a $1 million mortgage, and a family with rich tastes and expensive hobbies, then you gotta wonder.

Yup, that is one of the things I had in mind when I made that comment. And some of the kids coming out of his league have made it to high level colleges, kids that may not have had a real chance otherwise. That's good stuff.

The car is cleaned out and ready to be packed. We need to decide which tent to take--the small cozy one or the ginormous one. 2 person v. 4 person. Sometimes the extra space is nice, but it is far less cozy, and the rain fly on the big tent sucks/is functionally nonexistent.

A friend posted something on Facebook about receiving an ad for life insurance, and wondering if it meant she was old.

Uh, life insurance is for anyone with obligations and people to take care of.

I love me some Myrtle Beach, man. Was thinking about moving down that way in a few years.

My woman has a relative that runs a hotel down there and we always get a free on-the-beach room when we visit.

    Spoiled rotten.

I don't see how that makes him a hypocrit. Sounds like a gun blog pissed off that he said something about guns. The man's a writer, a storyteller. Because he raps about guns and violence doesn't mean that's who he is.

...you have a copy of his criminal record in front of you?

    ...

The man is just as fake as Jim Carrey. Carrey makes a violent movie, talks about how horrible it is and that he can't support it... and then does what with that fat check he received?

Eh, the only saving grace in Magic Mike was I finally got to see Olivia Munn's titty sprinkles.
