    The reviews of my departmental grant proposal are disheartening. Time for me to replace some committee members. If they're not going to care enough to respond to any e-mails and give me their feedback on a proposal, and I then fail at that proposal, I think that I need to find a better support group.

    An unprecedented thing just happened.

    My nephew (the eldest amongst my siblings' children, and the only among them having entered high school at this time) has asked me to do a light edit on his 1-page Macbeth essay.

    I pointed out to him my university text book, the Norton Shakespeare Based on the Oxford, and mentioned that it's 3,420 pages. He was impressed.

    We then discussed how awesome Shakespeare is and went on about how stage productions are superior to film adaptations—all on his initiative, not mine.

    We then contemplated perhaps going to the Stratford Festival this summer to catch a production.

    *sheds a tear*
