I find it's worse in the city than in rural areas. All that concrete. The heat seems to turn into an oven.

Also, what kind of spread are you used to? Anywhere near 80 F? I think it's a factor. If my winters rarely (or never) froze over—let alone for months at a time—I think the hot, hot summer days would be much more bearable. These extreme days only run for a few months.

In this region, it's like you're constantly acclimatizing one way or the other.

Unless you're making it with Eagle Brand Condensed Milk, you're doing it wrong.

Having lived in SoCal where there's very little temperature spread vs. Ontario, Connecticut and now Chicago area where there is major spread, I think your observation about acclimatizing is spot on.

And oh, hell yeah, humidity feels worse in the city.

Damned right. My wife recently started making a version that uses condensed milk, cream cheese, pudding and whipped topping. She uses chessmen cookies instead of nilla wafers, and damn it's good.

Don't forget the 'Nilla wafers. I may have to go home and make some, too... that was a small, really tiny, not-at-all-enough serving.

The Nilla wafers make it. I wouldn't like it any other way.

I never liked banana pudding until I had this kind. You can still use Nilla wafers, I'm sure. I can't eat it now, anyway, being gluten intolerant... ( I can still eat the nanners and pudding though )

She'd have to have candy corn teeth to wear that dress. - said Michael Kors, spinning me off into a 5-minute laughing jag.

God, I love project runway. Its just not the same without Michael Kors this season. But Zac Posen is pretty funny, too. Just not as caustic.

First brew tour of the year. It's sprinkling a bit but Oregonians don't care. We all just pulled up our hoods. The guys next to me were talking about Adventure Time. Love it.

Looking at some of the girls walking around this afternoon, I wonder how much of beauty is good coloring and good skin.

  19. My niece LOVES nanner pudding. She gets upset when it's all gone.
