Why are men so fixated on their genitals?

Probably the same reason women are so fixated on their feelings.

We have to touch them every few minutes to make sure they're working properly.
    Otherwise, we'd be Kens.

It is where we keep our brains for the most part. The cranium is for the eyes which are programmed to look at females and hardwired to said genitals.

Ooh, I should do a PS creation for the Plan9 80's action flick. he should have a turtleneck wearing sidekick with a slick bald haircut (I could be biased there).

I love how you ask a simple question and you get the instantly defensive answer a question with another question response. I'm legitimately interested. Why does a man think about, talk about, touch his genitals so much? Is it because they are on the outside of his body?

I mean, I love my vagina. But I've never been able to sustain a page or two of banter about it with a group of women.

Not that I really joined in, but I didn't realize you were being serious. I thought you were just, you know, being pointless like the rest of us.

For me (and me alone) it's because I think that dick jokes are funny pretty much all the time. But I'm not all that bright when it comes to these things.

Well, I was being serious. I mean, if men pay an inordinate amount of attention to their genitals, why do women spend an excessive amount of time with feelings?

Every woman I've ever been with has had all these feelings--buckets of them--and seemed to be compelled to fiddle with them constantly.

Like maybe it was a great, inexpensive hobby. Like maybe crying was a type of exercise. Jealously. Resentment. Rage.

    Hormones, perhaps.

I get that, I guess. I suppose it's just a question of what motivates you. Women like to know where they're at. Maybe it's a genetic security thing. And a big part of that is 'feeling' like you know what's going on. More than fixating on feelings, per se, I would suggest that women are more fixated on analyzing their feelings. I have certainly known my share of men who wallow in excessive feelings. But they don't seem to question their feelings as much as women do. Would you agree with that?

I'm reminded of the one conversation that was had about penises at another time and how they were 'funny-looking.' So maybe men think their penises are sort of ridiculous and self-consciously overcompensate by constantly drawing attention to them. Sort of like the 'class clown' phenomenon. :p

I'm sorry. There, I was joking. But it turned out kind of nice.

  16. I know a lot of ladies who can talk about their 'gina for hours on end. Also, have you seen The Vagina Monologues?

Yes, but the vagina monologues is more political in nature. I can't even think of what I might say about my vagina for hours on end in a normal conversation.

  18. I have taken a part of a lot of events before and after the VMs where women talk about...their vaginas. Poetry slams, art shows, medical discussions....all about vaginas.

And is that because that is what normally happens or because it is a political action? I don't think it's the same thing. There is a deliberateness to it that says, 'hey, it's ok to talk about your vagina.'

    Not the same thing.

  20. The medical discussion was truly all about the vagina...and things related to it like the vulva. Questions about orgasms and g-spots. Why does everything related to female reproduction have to be political?
