I loathe the procrastination inherent in getting around to looking at edits.

most of these edits are stupid things, i think.
for example the house style requires that i reference allusions...so there's an offhand reference to bartelby the scrivener for example. they want a footnote.
it seems to me somehow patronizing of the reader.
    but they insist.

    ok then, i shall procrastinate.

that said, the edits have to go away this weekend...

writing about procrastination is among the highest forms of procrastination, don't you think?

Game night last night was fantastic. Dropped the guy off at the airport today for a week in Hungary. I'm going to experience withdrawal while he's gone, I think.

A little over a year ago a lurker (~60 posts in 9 years counts as a lurker, right?) on another message board that I frequent PM'd me asking very detailed questions about Stanley. Long story short, he ended up getting a Bullmastiff from the same breeder.

Because he lives in Kansas, and Stanley's breeder is located in northern Wisconsin, the puppy hopped a plane to get to his new home. Recently I remembered this whole story and PM'd him asking how things are going. He sent me some pics of "Max", who is Stanley's half brother (same dad, different mom).

Here is Max getting picked up at the airport.

    A couple puppy shots.

And a couple shots of Max at about a year old.

Especially the latter shots really look like Stanley IMO, you can see several of the features are nearly identical. They both have the same dark gray on their chest and inside their front legs, and the same little light colored diamond between their front legs. Max is a little lighter in color than Stanley (Stanley's mom was a red Bullmastiff, I believe Max's mom was fawn. Their dad is fawn.) If you told me the picture in the snow was Stanley, I'd have to look hard not to believe it.

Haha. Yes. The breeder we got Stanley from does about 2-4 litters per year from his father with various females. They used to be located about 20-25 minutes from where I live, but they've since moved up to northern Wisconsin. While they aren't a big, fancy operation, they aren't backyard breeders pumping out masses of puppies either. At the time we got Stanley they said their policy is to retire each female from breeding after two litters, I'm assuming that is still true.

I visited both the breeder's home and the home of his mom's owner (she co-owned him with the breeder, Stanley was from her second litter after which she retired to being a full time pet for the lady who owned her) to check things out. Both Stanley's parents were kept as pets, in clean homes, and were very well cared for. The lady who owned his mom had wanted a big dog because her husband had passed away a year or two before and she had three teenage children at home with her. So once Stanley's litter was born and placed, his mom was going to be a full time pet for them. She let us come over 2-3 times after the puppies were born but before they could leave their mother so we could see them and pick ours out. The pups were born in June and she was a teacher with the summer off. So she literally had herself or one of her three teenaged kids in the room with the mother and puppies 24 hours a day from the time they were born until they were weaned. She was terrified that the mom would suffocate one of them when they tried to feed (there were 12 pups, 11 survived birth). We got to meet Tony Little's (the workout dude) puppy too, he was from the same litter as Stanley. There was also some famous televangelist who got a puppy from his litter. Though Stanley's dad is kept as a stud, he is a pet as well. Their house was immaculate and we visited there a couple times too. The dogs had the run of the house and were very well cared for. Both the breeder and his mom's owner emailed us for updates the first year or so, and his mom's owner even brought his mom over about 9 months later to play with him and see how he was doing.

Anyway, all that unnecessary detail aside, if you seriously want info as to how you can get a Stanley sibling, PM me and I'll get you contact details.

Sitting here at my daughter's house. Just got back from the goodwill where I found an awesome pink cashmere hooded bathrobe. $3.99 motherfuckers! I only got about 4 hours sleep last night, but I got laid this morning and in a little while we're gonna go out dancing. "80s night! It's been a good day.
