My husband seems to have forgotten that I am pro-choice.

    I don't think I will remind him.

20220507_150030.jpg With all the traitors and treasonous ilk in the Republican party, I got a shirt to remind people that once upon a time, the Republicans were good guys. 160 years ago, but it did happen. Fact is, it's not Democrats or Republicans, it's southern people that keep fucking up. Plus, I hate the fact that when I see some military stuff or someone with Flag apparel, I have to assume they're some maga qanon moron. We need to take back patriotism.

    Remind him.
    Often.
Silence is not a good response.

My wife listens to, for the traffic reports, a "news radio" station that is proudly right-wing, & the morning team assmouths are smug Trumpers. She also works at a private Catholic school where most of the teachers are educated women, who support NPD Trump. I frequently bring up issues and news reports to counter the bullshit she hears, or doesn't hear.

I find it interesting that so much of the "patriotic" clothing and other items
(such as USA flags, & MAGA caps) is/are Made In China, and other foreign countries. Many of the "patriots" favor military firearms, and magazines, made in Soviet block countries. Also the cheap ammo made in Russia.

The news media loves to show the "southern" rednecks as the face of the misguided patriotism. I cringe when the news reports focus on stereotypical southerners who are usually overweight, carrying firearms, displaying the confederate flag, & sound as though they couldn't pass a GED test. The thing is the mix of "rednecks," ignorance, & twisted patriotism exists in every state.

You should check out the Southern Strategy. That's the polical pandering campaign by the Republican party that worked to convert racists southerners from being dixiecrats to being republicans. Same old racism, new party.
As far as my southern bona fides, Maryland is technically south of the Manson-Dixon line. However, I not only spent 2 years in military boarding school in Virginia, I then spent 5 years in Georgia's senior military college in Dahlonega. I've had hotdogs at the Varsity. I watched the Lemonheads perform at Stone Mountain. I worked a mile north of the big chicken. I've tubed the 'Hooch and done the chicken dance in Helen's Octoberfest. And I remember the racism in school. The guy who asked me "would you date a n****r?" right in the dorm hallway because for him it was not a big deal to talk like that. I remember calling a garage to try to fix my subaru and hearing the mechanic say "I fought them in WW2, I don't fix that Jap scrap". Not that much has changed. And I can watch the news and watch modern day lynchings like Ahmad Arbeury. There are racists everywhere, but the highest concentrations are in the South, and a few weird cousin fucking cults up in Idaho. There are good people in the South. But a lot of people raised racists who are my age and actively voting Republican. Trump won the South because a black man won the Presidency and Republicans voted in the most racist candidate they could find after that.

Not a political post, but 18 1/2 years after completing my bachelors degree I finally got my first job with my degree this week. All that time and money spent getting that degree is finally going to start paying off.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

From what I have seen (admittedly not much, living in NY) he has trouble even putting together a coherent sentence.
Is he really a viable candidate?

he can speak well, you just have to slow down to understand him.
he got alot of slack for not having debates with his running mates. but im not sure why he didn't. but the democratic nominee is very well spoken and is/was a preacher. it will be very interesting

The views he has on some of the things that are happening in GA i agree with.
I agree more with him on things than i do his opponent.

to me he is more of a person instead of a politician if that makes since.

Dont get me wrong some of the things that his opponent has done are great, but he has voted for more "bad" things than good. but thats my opinion
