Cherry, Apple, Rhubarb ... Oh and Apricot!

The pippy berries I tend not to like, because their getting stuck in my teeth outweighs my pleasure at their taste.

I love key lime (both the traditional style and the one my dad makes which is like a lemon meringue), real peanut butter pie like noodle mentioned not that frozen stuff, apple with the crumbly bits on top, and pecan the way my mom makes it with like 3 times the amount of nuts so they are all the way through instead of just on top. But lets be real. I'll probly eat any kind of pie you put in front of me.

So, in America do you ever have savoury pies?

    Or only sweet?

It's a hell of a way to live, to never have a steak and kidney pie, chips and mushy peas... your whole life.

No, we have chicken pot pie and sheppard's pie here. But I think that this thread is intended more for dessert pies than anything else.

And steak and kidney pie is either awesome or horrifying with no other options. It made me vomit in London, but it was delicious in Edinburgh.

A shepherds pie is a whole other thing!

When I was 6 I played the part of a shepherd in the Nativity play and I insisted on eating shepherd's pie every night for the week before the play... thats what you call method acting.

I guess you cant have nativity plays in America either because of the separation of church and state thing.

I havent had a lot of sweet pies in my life... I have made apple pie myself and it goes down very nice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting into the hot apple inside... I'll say thats my favourite.

Pecan pie is lovely. Well, my mother's pecan pie. Not always impressed with others.

I'm making shepherd's pie this week. I'm not really a fan of meat-pies that have crust or savory pies as a whole. I forgot that I like strawberry pies when they're made with a pretzel or Graham cracker crust.

My grandma made a wonderful coconut cream pie. My sister, fortunately, has learned to make it too. There's nothing else that compares. MMMMMMMM!

Churches put them on every Christmas, but you won't see them at, say, the park downtown.

And, ooh, I forgot about strawberry pie. I like it best when it's whole strawberries with just a bit of syrup. mmmm.

sounds like Pecan and Key Lime are top of the list. And here I thought I was going to be the only one to mention them against an overwhelming tide of Apple Pie lovers! So, I have to say that Key Lime became my favourite after a family trip to Florida in the late '60's. Eating a slice of this new, strange flavour in a classic greasy spoon diner in Key West was my best memory. I still like it. Pecan Pie is a close second - it is so damn close to a giant butter tart!

Hey Jazz - didn't the Beatles call it a "fish and finger" pie?

I don't eat much pie, but I like rhubarb and gooseberry if they're not too sweet. They're supposed to be tart. And please, don't mix strawberries in with the rhubarb.:( Key lime is good, too, but I don't care for most cream style pies. Oh. Except for graham cracker cream. Pecan is good, and my grandma makes a great pie using English walnuts instead of pecans, with crushed walnuts for the bottom crust.
I've had a pork and cabbage pie that I liked, and my dad makes a creamed hamburger with peas pie. Hmm... sounds dreadful, but is actually quite good.

    Apple
    Cherry
Pumpkin - especially with a topping of brown sugar, walnuts, maple syrup, and butter

I've never had Banana Cream Pie, always wanted to try it.

Key lime is good. Big lemon pie fan as well. I HATE meringue, so I prefer the graham cracker crumbles on top instead. My Nana made the best apple pie, and I don't even like apples.

I'm also a big chocolate and peanut butter pie advocate, as long as it's ice cold.
