Pro tip for cheaper natural nut butters: buy them in bulk. Almond butter in particular is way cheaper this way.

LOL that's why we have a like system ;)

I think so. Honestly it was so long ago that I can't remember and I'm not willing to go out and get some.

There's a local guy here who makes some good PB&Js. Peanut Butter & Co., has a store in Greenwich Village where they'll give you a lunch like you had when you were a kid, PB&J with the crusts cut off if you like, carrot sticks, and potato chips. You can find their peanut butter in stores or even on Amazon. Their Smooth Operator is pretty tasty, and they have a Chocolate Dreams. My favorite from them is The Heat Is On, which is a spicy peanut butter. The Cinnamon Raisin Swirl is also very good.

But the absolute best peanut butter I have had is Cream-Nut. It has the freshest taste and is really an outstanding gourmet peanut butter. Note it only has 2 ingredients on the label.

These gourmet food products were already a premium price. I imagine they too will have price increases.

Those are some awesome sounding peanut butters, cynthetiq.
I'd "like" your post, too, but some forums don't have a "like" button. :)

I can't live without Peanut Butter. We sometimes go through a large jar of Skippy in a week. We live on the stuff (or at least my teenage son does).

I am not a fan of the just peanuts kinds of peanut butter, I like a little sweetness. The one thing I would like to do without would be the transfats. Almost all no stir types of peanut butter have some kind of hydrogenated vegetable oils to help keep the peanut butter from separating.

There has to be a better way to create no stir peanut butter.

I didn't realize what forum this is originated. I've changed that.

I do suggest people try those products. They are extremely good.

Three of my local grocery stores have peanut butter and almond butter grinders in their bulk section.

I saw this on the news as well, I'm going to be loading up on the Costco organic peanut butter twin-packs very soon.

I like how the logic of this flows to: Meat isn't murder; it's capital punishment. Those damn animals killed all those plants! Justice will be served!

  13. I think I'm addicted to Reese's peanut butter cups.

    This could get expensive.

I just bought some Teddy peanut butter today after hearing good things about it.

    Will report back!

I generally prefer my peanut butter without anything added, unless we're talking chocolate, in which case, fuck yeah. I love me some peanut butter by the spoonful. Either that, or I'll work my way through a box of graham crackers by dipping them in peanut butter.

One of the stores where we occasionally shop makes the peanut butter onsite. There's actually a machine with a hopper full of shell-less, whole peanuts. You push a button and it grinds them up; you fill up a container like a cup of soda.

Chocolate and peanut butter is why they invented Easter.

  17. Holloween, too! Reese's Pieces rule!

Trivia: why are Reese's Pieces shiny? They are coated with carnauba wax... the same stuff folks wax their cars with! YUM!

Heh. Google "shredded cheese and cellulose". For the impatient: Wood pulp on the cheese keeps it from sticking together in the bag, wood pulp in the cheese replaces fat and gives a creamier "mouth feel". Truly though, cellulose is cellulose no matter the source.

Love the Peanut Butter Cups but am not a fan of the Pieces.

Much more a fan of open jar of peanut butter and a big chunk of chocolate -- even better than the cups.
