Flash Deal Alert: Arkham Asylum GoTY and Arkham City are both on sale for the next 11 hours. Arkham Asylum is goign for $6.79, and Armham City for $10.19. If you've ever wanted to be Batman, now is your chance. These games are seriously good -- well written, excellent design, exquisite controls. The freeflow combat system is easy to learn, but hard to master.

Seriously, I cannot recommend these games enough. Buy them. Do it.

EDIT: It should be noted that these games do make use of the Games for Windows Live nonsense. It's relatively unobtrusive, and for those of you who own XBoxen I think there's some way to link it to your XBox Live account. Still worth noting, as if that's a deal breaker you may want to pass.

Excellent choice. We've got a few TFPers who get together for L4D2 nights fairly regularly. You'll need to get onto our friends list to be included -- there's no harm at all in having another player.

Sweet, the deal I've been waiting for came up. Just bought the Batman Franchise for $25.00.

    This pleases me...

Also, playing with you guys is my main reason for buying L4D2. I added cynth as a friend earlier.

Oh, for the love of... I was doing really well resisting. But I just found out they have Myst AND Defenders of Ardania AND Alice: Madness Returns. Looks like I may end up dropping some cash after all.

Alice was way cheap earlier. I thought about picking it up, but decided not to.

haha, i bought alice on xmas from a best buy sale & haven't even installed it yet. i'm starting to feel seriously neurotic about games, but at least it's a cheap habit. i ended up biting on civ 5 after my buddy talked me into it.

batman is great, but i actually preferred asylum to city; it's hard to explain but the flow of asylum is just one of the best storyline's i've ever had in a game.

Deal alert: Bastion is on for $3.74 for the next five hours. Isometric action-RPG time travelling adventure goodness with silky smooth narration is well worth getting at twice that price. I actually paid more than triple that and still feel like I got more than my money's worth.

Buy it. You know you want to.

    Flash Sale Alert!

Civilization V: Game of the Year Edition is selling for $7.49 for the next 3.5 hours.

Also for the next 3.5 hours, Mirror's Edge is selling for $4.99, which is a game I highly recommend!

I picked up Mirro's Edge. I will stop now. I've already spent more this year on games than I have in many, many, years. Of course, I've gotten more games than just the 2 or 3 I would have bought back in the day.

Flash deal: All Double Fine games are on for 75% off for the next five hours. Psychonauts and Costume Quest are both excellent. I haven't played Stacking, but bought it just because it is a Double Fine game.

I probably should be resisting these purchases too -- I've still got a couple of games from the last holiday sale that I haven't gotten around to yet. I just have a hard time saying no to good games for under $5.

I think for the next sale I'm going to have to give myself a limit on the number of games I'm allowed to buy.

The sale is ending in a few short hours, to the relief of games everywhere. A couple of last minute deals:

Skyrim is 50% off. If you enjoy the Elder Scrolls series, it's worth taking a look at.
Bastion is 75%, Going for a mere $3.75. I've talked at length about how fantastic this game is, so I won't beat the drum anymore.
Double Fine games are all 75%. They're all great, you can't really go wrong on this one.
SPAZ is on for a meagre $2.50. That's a cup of coffee, for a game that can eat hours of your time. Top down space sim. It has zombies. You can take prisoners, and then eject them out the airlock. Seriously, what more do you want?

And of course, if there's anything you've been waiting for a sale on that hasn't come up, now is the time to grab it.

i didn't get hurt too bad on this sale in the end. i'm out only ~25 bucks and i got 6 or 7 good games.

    trine 2
    civilization 5
    monkey island pack
    the longest journey
    E.Y.E cybermacy
    capsized

I got quite a few games all at fantastic prices!

KOTOR: Old one, but definitely worth $2.50
Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Gotham City Imposters: This was the deal I was hoping for. Arkham City is a bit disappointing so far, but Gotham City Imposters was a really nice surprise, as I had not even heard of it before.
Trine 2: This game has stunning graphics, a good story, and hours of three player super fun.
L4D2: Under $5.00. Don't think I need to say more.
Torchlight: This game is like Diablo, but with all the stuff I felt Diablo was lacking and none of the things I felt Diablo didn't need. I'm getting quite a bit of enjoyment out of this one.

I was hoping to see a really good deal on the Overlord pack, but if it showed up, I missed it. Ah well, it looks like a good enough series that I will probably just drop the $20.00 on it.

i agree about the batman stuff. i found arkham city kind of meh compared to asylum. i think i missed the linear-ness somewhat. it just seemed like a sandbox game without enough meat.

and i played gotham city impostors this year probably more than any other game. i just love it's mechanics and weapons. it's too bad only the team deathmatch pops out of all the game modes.

I picked up the Overlord pack during the last holiday sale. Well worth $20 in my opinion, but if you can keep yourself occupied until December I'd say there's a good chance of getting it for cheap then.

  18. Punk.of.Ages

    Punk.of.Ages Getting Tilted

My thoughts exactly. The best thing, to me, about Asylum was how linear it was. When I want open worlds, I go to MMOs. I play other games for story or PvP purposes. In the case of Batman, I just want the story without side quests or distractions.

I haven't tried anything but the deathmatch mode on Imposters yet. I'm still getting used to the mechanics.

I have plenty to keep me occupied for a bit, so I am going to hold out on Overlord for a bit. I'll definitely be buying it eventually, though.

In other news, I saw that you picked up Magicka. If I'm ever on at the same time as you, send me an invite. I absolutely love that game.

I actually distributed a few copies of Magicka when it was on for $2.50. You didn't get one because you already had it.

I'm hoping we can get around to playing some of these neat-o multiplayer games soon, but alas work conspires against me at the moment.

I still have a tab open with the Mass Effect page on the Steam website, might buy it one of these days or one of those of other newer (anything past Doom 3) games on there.
Mass Effect certainly does sound interesting.
