I think Marvin lewis needs to go. 0-5 in playoff games

  3. I was the most optimistic Bengals fan, but now I think I have finally hit the point where I want to get rid of Marvin Lewis. He is not creating leaders. He is making good athletes and has a great coaching staff, but he isn't teaching his players to be leaders. Let's build up some confident men that do well under pressure and make smart decisions.

Funniest thing I've heard all day today that has lifted my spirits:

From a Cleveland Browns Fan: They told Andy Dalton he could be anything. So he became Brandon Weeden.

Are you a baseball fan, ZS? The Reds are a good team

  5. Yes, yes I am. BabySquirrel already has a reds outfit from her UncleSquirrel.

LET PETE ROSE INTO THE HALL OF FAME! There are murderers/rapists/wife and child beaters there. What's wrong with a little gambling compared to those offenses?

It's so damn hard being a Cincinnati fan in the PACNW. Sooooo many douches.

Never trust a ginger haired QB. Chargers made my weekend.

I saw the Saints opened at 9 1/2 and it's down to 7 1/2 most places now. I figure the Hawks take it but don't cover anything over a TD. That said I have no action on it as the Hawks have burned me soooo many times now I just refuse to risk a cent on them. The 9'ers on paper mop the Panther's... but it's the NFL and the play-offs so anything can happen.

Want to talk about douches? Try living around a bunch of Texas fans. Actual Texan's fans aren't bad but cowgirl fans... fuck them. The entire reason I loathe the cowgirls is due to their fans and now I'm surrounded by them. I swear to God every cowgirl fan I've ever personally known- grade school, through the military and my entire adult life has just been a blow hard douche bag.

I am SO GLAD that you clarified which Texas fans you meant. Try living in Houston and having to listen to cowgirls' fans. I don't mind the boasting (to a certain extint) from cowgirls' fans WHO ACTUALLY LIVE IN/NEAR DALLAS, the rest of them can eat shit and die. Some people have actually told me that as a native Texan I should automatically support the dallas cowgirls; fuck that.

Looks like the Rose Bowl had a hell of a finish.

Yeah, see that's just it other than a few guys in the service most cowgirl fans I've known have probably never stepped foot in Texas. About the only fans I have less respect for then a cowgirl fan is the "fair weather" fan. Bulls are hot? Love them! Oh the Heats hot? I love them! Folks who chase winning teams and buy new shirts and hats based on who winning are losers in my book. That said I still dislike cowgirl fans more, just might be a tad bit of respect for those who stick with them regardless of the season they're having.

Ever since I was a little kid I've heard many snide comments about the Oilers (yes, they were a lousy team for many years) from cowgirls' "fans" who said/say things such as "The Oilers? You should root for the cowgirls, they're a real football team.", etc, ad naseum. Don't even get me started on the "America's team" crap. Many of the diehard cowgirls' fans wear rosecolored glasses, they don't like it when I mention that the cowgirls have been a mediocre team for the last 20 years. Long live jackass jerry jones (as long as he continues to think that he knows more about pro football than his coaches)!

I hear you about bandwagon fans. What happened to all of those Bulls' and Lakers' fans? Where were all of the Saint's fans during the lean years? They drive me crazy, a real fan sticks with their team(s) through the highs AND the lows. One thing I've noticed is many Texans fans are hanging in there despite the 2-14 record in 2013, and their overall record.

    Rant over.

I really had the Texans winning many more game then they did this year. Was way off on that prediction. I was nearly right on when it came to GB, Sea and the 9'ers. I nearly got laughed off a gaming (not video, sports betting) site for claiming I thought GB was headed for trouble due to injuries and might not even make the play-offs. Was told "own a crystal ball do ya?" among other, more nasty, things. I just looked at the roster- depth, ages etc... and thought one or two key injuries and they'll have some serious problems. With the Texan's I just thought (still think) they have more talent then their record would indicate. I mean winning your first two then losing the next fourteen, what the hell? And look at a few of those loses. Really close with Sea, NE, KC and the 9'ers. Should have have won at least two of those. Could have won all four. Momentum means a lot in the NFL and a couple of those loses end up being wins and who knows how games like Oak, Jac and that second Tenn. game go? A few small changes, some literally by chance/act of God stuff, and a .125 team is easily over .500. A first round pick and some seriously needed coaching changes (though the Phillips thing I have mixed feelings about) and I see them having a brighter future.

As for Saint fans I know lots of guys/gals who stuck with them through thick and thin, mostly thin. I mean folks who wore "T'aints" shirts but deep down were die hard fans going back to the Archie Manning days. I hear what you're saying about folks who bail but there's a lot of die hard fans who'll stick with their team regardless. If that weren't true Detroit wouldn't sell a single season ticket. When I was a kid my house was a 9'ers household. In those days most folks I knew went with whatever team was in your area. Since the Seahawks didn't exist my dad and uncle were 9'ers fans and they rarely did anything of note. My entire military time I spent surrounded by folks who would laugh when told them I was a 9'ers fan. I took great pleasure in writing a few "how 'bout them 9'ers?" letter to some good friends a couple years after I got out and Joe Montana delivered winning season after wining season and several SB rings. I'm still a 9'ers fan but now enjoy Seattle wins too... as long as they're not beating the 9'ers.

My comment re Saints' fans has much to do with the 'explosion' of Saints gear seen all over Houston (anybody remember Hurricane Katrina?)
AFTER the Saints won the Superbowl. But that's a natural reaction, I guess. I can relate to long-suffering fans wanting to have something to cheer about--Oilers, Astros, Rockets (Carroll Dawson should have been/should be painfully tortured for breaking up the Championship team), UH Cougars (my alma mater), etc.

I wasn't a 49ers fan per se, but I sure loved them for knocking the cowgirls out of the playoffs a couple of times. Maybe CK is getting hot at the right time............

UH has had a number of great basketball teams. Been a while, think they ended being a serious contender type organization in the early 80's. But a lot of greats have passed through there- Olajuwon and Drexler for example.Being a former Blazer season tix holder I know a little about "Clyde the Glide."

I think the 9'ers take out the Panthers and then get stomped in Seattle. Of course that's assuming Sea beats NO. If it's a 9'ers NO NFC title game and there's no more injuries I'd say that'll be a push games odd wise.

It appears that Johnny Manziel (I'm sick of hearing about this kid, esp. the johhny football crap) is going enter the 2014 draft. Yes, I know it has nothing to do with the 2013 season.

This is going to present some problems for O'Brien and the Texans. I don't think that Manziel is ready for the NFL, but WTF do I know? If the Texans don't trade down, and they don't take Manziel, the shit will hit the fan. Former Aggies, whether or not they actaully graduated, are a rabid and VOCAL bunch.

These threads are titled "20__ NFL season" but any NFL talk has always been fair game to my knowledge.

Myself, I see Johnny Football as a train wreck looking for a location to happen. he'd likely do best out of the state of Texas, his home stomping grounds and a place he has no problems finding problems. He do better and it would be a better situation for an NFL team if he were drafted by some team like the Rams, Vikings, Jacksonville. Basically a town where he'll have to work a lot harder to step on his own dick. And even if calmer town located teams do snatch him up they'd be wise to put a "cleaner/babysitter" on him on the road 24/7.

If I were a Texans fan I would be hoping they use that #1 pick more wisely than taking a college freshman who thinks he's a football god.

I don't understand why you think that Manziel might get into trouble while celebrating being
    little johnny football :D :p :D.

There have been too many "top" college QBs, some Heisman winners, with 4-5 years of collegiate experience who failed miserably in the NFL (Andre Ward from my Alma Mater is a good example). I don't want to see Manziel in a Texans uniform unless he does a lot of maturing in the next four months. Which is highly unlikely if he spends that time surrounded by folks who do nothing but feed his ego. I just don't see him recognizing that what he could do on the field in college he won't get away with in the NFL.

Texas politics and business are dominated by alumni from our two main universities, the University of Texas and Texas A&M University. The Texans decision not to draft Vince Young is still being discussed here. O'Brien will be under considerable pressure to draft Manziel; I hope that he has the balls to draft the QB that he really wants or to make a deal that best benefits the team.

I like the Saints to cover the spread but the Seahawks, who seem to have the luck of the devil, to win the game by four.

    Indianapolis (+7) @ New England
Once again I'll take the away team and the points, though I think the Colts have a decent chance to win this one outright. Not sure the Patriots offense can hang.

    San Francisco (-1) @ Carolina
A road favorite this time! I don't think either QB will play especially well, but I like the 49ers coaching advantage. Phil Dawson with another game-winning kick as time expires.

    San Diego @ Denver (-9.5)
I will keep picking against the Chargers until they win the Super Bowl if I have to, but we all know Peyton's going to come in and toss five touchdowns, right?

I'm pulling for the Colts and the Chargers, just because they're in the position to knock the Pats & Broncos out of the playoffs. The Colts might have a chance, but the Chargers are most likely toast.
