I think that Reed turned 35 on 09-11; I'v heard reports that he's actually 36. From the start I questioned why the Texans were so set on paying that kind of $$ to a player at/near the end of his career. Borla pretty much nailed the answer it in his response. Another factor was Reed's hip surgery in April...missed training camp...didn't play until the 2nd or 3rd game...maybe never fully recovered???. A bust, regardless.
That leads to some questions: Did the Texans know that they were getting damaged goods? Are teams able to include a 'this contract is null & void if it turns out that you have an injury of which we are not aware' clause?

Physicals are a standard part of any trade. So either the Texans knew his condition and still approved it thinking he'd heal faster (most likely), or misdiagnosed him and thought he was already better.

A poor decision or serious oversight either way. I was under the impression that the surgery was a surprise to the Texans. It's possible that their "surprise" was a cover.

I hope to see Kubiak back soon, with a strong emphasis on if he's ready. Strokes, even TIAs, are difficult to predict.

I just went back and looked, according to what was reported at the time, the Texans knew of the hip injury but judged it was not serious enough that he'd need surgery. Then, shortly after they completed the trade, it was decided he did need surgery.

Well, Kubiak's decision to put Schaub in the game certainly blew any support he had with Texans fans and the local media. The only positive I see is Schaub showed why he got benched in the first place. Two FGs, and couldn't get a TD or 1st down from the two (two yards for the win, one yard for a new set of downs with plenty of time on the clock). If Kubiak isn't willing to make the changes needed, it's time for a coach who is and will. He came across as beaten & clueless in the postgame press conference, not a good thing for a HC. I didn't get to see any of the late night analysis/comments, had better things to do ;) :D.

From the clips that I've seen (had to miss the game, family obligations) the argument between Schaub & Johnson was blown out of proportion. That said, when the QB jumps the best receiver on the team, things are clearly going south.

Our official sports motto in Houston should be "Wait until next year!".

So how are your teams doing?

Looks like the Pats were cheated a little on last nights final play... wonder how they feel when they get cheated?

Since my team has crumbled , I need a Cinderella team to root for the rest of this year. I'm not jumping ship, I just need a reason to give a flip about the NFL until the playoffs. It's easy to pull for a proven winner (I seriously dislike bandwagon fans), I like underdogs.

I wonder if the football fans in Philly are as sick of hearing about the Steelers over the years as I am of hearing about the cowgirls? Yeah, I'll put the Eagles on the list.

Maybe the Giants will once again pull a rabbit out of the hat. IIRC both of their recent (sort of) SB wins came after they struggled during the regular season.

I don't know if the Rams will make the POs, but I always liked Jeff Fisher, despite the Oilers "good, but not good enough" efforts when he was in Houston.

I heard that on my home this afternoon, it doesn't surprise me. Kubiak lost control of the team, wound up grasping at straws. Hell, he even gave Schaub another chance last night (That's going to help Keenum how exactly?).

I hope that Kubiak has a great career as a head coach.

I also hope that after the game the players taped several rolls of Gorilla duct tape over Swearinger's mouth.

I did not expect the Cowboys to look THIS bad tonight.

I forgot that the cowgirls were "playing" last night. This certainly helps my backup, & hopefully Cinderella, team the Philadelphia Eagles.

Are the Patriots playing with fire? How many more times can they come from behind to win? When will their luck and/or help from the officials run out?

Gronk's knee got wrecked Sunday, so I don't see the Pats getting far. Probably out in the first round. Definitely out by the second.

It would be great to have the Eagles in the playoffs and the cowgirls out before they play on the 29th.

The Eagles certainly have a good chance to make the playoffs. Dallas doesn't have a good track record in December games. We're still really learning what to expect from the Birds, week by week, so I'm not sure if we really know what we have here. They looked awful on Sunday for more than half the game, and then they just took over. It should be fun and the final game will probably decide the NFC East.

You're trusting the Eagles to win a game of that magnitude? :p

I heard/saw an interview where romo was talking about the cowgirls dismal performances in December. Let's hope jackass jerry ends up needing another facelift!

Oh man, Richard Sherman is so amazing.

My husband and I each made a guess this morning as to how many interceptions Eli Manning would throw today. He said 2. I said 3. I'm quite happy with 5!

After watching the Seahawks lose last weekend in SF, this was just what I needed.
