I think it's as much about age and the NFL grind as anything. JJ is 70. There is only one current NFL head coach over 61 right now, and that's Tom Coughlin (66) who is probably on his way out soon. It's a brutal job that leaves little time for anything else. Johnson has tons of money (I'm guessing) at this point, he has a fun job (that pays extremely well) still involved with football on Fox's pregame show, and he enjoys being able to live in the Florida Keys on the ocean and fishing regularly.

Also, I don't think most players weigh SB potential too heavily in their team choice$, if you know what I mean. Save for a few exceptions of guys at the end of their career who have already made generational money, like Manning. Look at Mario Williams going to Buffalo as an example. These guys have short earning careers, so most of them are trying to maximize their financial leverage more than anything else.

An interesting choice by Kubiak, he's going start Case Keenum. I like Keenum, he played well at my alma mater, and it would be nice see an undrafted QB do well in the NFL.

Maybe Keenum made a better impression on the coaches than did Yates, maybe Kubiak is grasping at straws, or perhaps it's a case of Kubiak's ties to Houston affecting his judgement.

Barwin was one of the most likeable Texan players. A lot of fans were sorry to see him leave, but when a team with many talented players has to deal with the salary cap, good players move on to other teams.

This season has been SO unpredictable.

Should be a fun game to watch tonight. I may light a fire out on the patio and watch it out there.

For the first time this year, RG III looked like the RG III of last year and it opened up both the running game (200+ yards rushing -84 by RG III) and the passing game (300 yards).

I think he was helped by the fact that the Bears defense was the Walking Wounded. They've had so many injuries lately it is insane.

I guess its schaubs fault they got beat by kc.

  11. And I was there to witness it first hand. Last minute decision to go, like at 7 am Sat. My son texted me then, caught a 4:30 flight out of O'Hare.

RG III is really good. I'm impressed. The Bears defense is really bad. I'm depressed.

A spontaneous football game with your son makes it sound like a net win though.

  13. Meriweather is going to get a call from the League. And then write a check.

I think you are correct. And if IIRC, he's already done that once this year, so this check will have even prettier numbers on it.

Some "fans" will might still find a way to blame Schaub :p. Keenum looked pretty good, esp. given the defense he faced. Unless he implodes, I see Case starting the remaining games; the Texans don't have much to lose at this point.

One thing has me puzzled: Given the Texans' offensive struggles going back to the last four games of the 2012 season, Rick Dennison is rarely mentioned by the local media. If you don't recognize his name, I'm not surprised, he's possibly the most invisible & teflon-coated Offensive Coordinator in the NFL. Perhaps Kubiak makes all of the decisions re the offense? Either way, somebody/some folks need to lose their job(s).

What happened with the Broncos? Very rarely do you see a team, even really bad teams, do so much to give away a game.

I can't remember the last time we had a worse MNF match-up.

  19. Six months ago it must have looked golden: two playoff teams in mid-season form.

Well now that they've gotten rid of those 3 troubling-making rookies that were smoking pot in a hotel room, I'm sure they're going to run the tables on the rest of the season.
