I personally know hundreds of mexicans that live right here in Colorado that live on refried beans, tortillas, and meat that cost $40/week. That leaves $360 for other expenses for the month. You can rent a room or share a room for $50-$100/week. That's $250 for rent plus $160 for food. That's $410.

You forgot to add that they would have to "pay their fair share of the taxes" because the rich can't be taxed to support them.

Sure you do Eddie, sure you do.

And that doesn't take into consideration if there's two parents working.

Ah but you said 400/month Eddie. Where's the extra $10 coming from, where is healthcare to keep the worker working coming from Eddie? How do they pay taxes Eddie? You are full of yourself. You have no idea how ignorant you truly sound right now. You're worse right now than Ann Coulter saying "our blacks are better, they are darker and true Americans." You have people on the far right wanting to disown you in this thread. You sir are a true joke, with not an ounce of humanity in you.

Spending as much time in Africa as I have, I've really been able to see first hand how little people really need to live on. Here in America we have absolutely no clue about what it is to truly need. America is the 1% of the world, no doubt about it. Just the simple fact that we have access to food and clean water gives us tremendous advantages that much of the world doesn't have.

As an aside, I think Ann Coulter's mistake is one of optical illusion. If there's only one black person in a room full of racist rich white people, that black person, by a trick of contrast, probably looks darker than a black person in a room of middle class white people, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans.

By the way, pan, I'm certain, beyond any shadow of a doubt that had I posted what you did in your previous 3 posts, I would be perma-banned. And no mod is going to disagree with that.

Now that made me laugh. I am not even a fan of John Stewart but when I saw that clip of the Daily Show and him joking about it and what is it the debate table... OMG I needed that laugh today. My 100yr old granny passed away at 3:30 AM. Been a long day, dealing with funeral arrangements. She was 100 year 9 months and 1 day old. She was a Groundhog Day baby and heard about that every year on her birthday. She said the kids teased her so bad at school on her birthday she was afraid not to go to school because the next day the teasing would be worse. 100 yrs wow. Her mind was extremely sharp, just her body gave out. Made me rethink, which would be better at the end losing your mind to old timer's dementia or having your mind and being fully conscious of your body declining? I always thought mind. With the stroke last year and subsequent health issues, I thought I could handle the pain and as long as my mind was sharp I didn't care. Watching her KNOW that her body is failing and fighting to stay alive just a little longer made me think maybe I was wrong, maybe being totally gone in senility and dementia and not knowing the end is so close would be better than knowing and fighting.

BTW, ya all can stop by my f/b page and take a look at the pics of her 100th birthday. lived through 100 Groundhog Days. She taught me how to be humane more than any religion or philosophy ever could. She was a devout 7th day Adventist, who's mother (my great grandmother) was a pioneer for the church in Ohio. RIP granny.

Wrong. Unions are the workforce's attempts to have a larger say in corporate policy.

A very recent example of how Unions go too far if not limited is the Qantas case. Qantas employees receive some of the best salaries and benefits in the global aviation industry, yet they continued to press for more money and job security, having a series of strikes for several months, resulting in substantial disruption of Qantas services and a huge dent in Qantas' reputation.

Emirates and Singapore Airlines are much more preferred by international customers, because they're reliable and provide good in-flight services (neither of which those overpaid Aussie employees of Qantas do).

EDIT: Look here at the Qantas payscale. Now compare the minimum of $90,000 to some of those Delta Airlines pilots who make less than $30,000. Then consider that a similar situation exists for all other branches of the Qantas workforce.

Social greed and wrong sense of entitlement is just as bad as corporate greed. Then again, Australian unions belong to the most idiotic organisations out there.

And how do you propose they buy anything from the mighty corporations that want to only pay them that much? You show they have no disposable income, no cars, no housing, no money to buy clothing from even the Salvation Army thrift stores. So how do the banks and corporations make money Eddie, when the biggest consumer nation has no consumers?

Do you even truly think things through before you type?

    Agreed.

I think anyone who makes over $400/month should sent the excess to the poor in Africa.

Seriously, most of us have no clue what real poverty is but I don't think it's fair to suggest those who live at or below the poverty line here in the US should suck it up and try to live on less.

Globally, the goal is to lead everyone out of poverty, not to continue to make excuses for it's existence.

Ah but, but, but the American dream is you work your ass off 16 hours a day for that $400 and you are supposed to save for your kids college, pay taxes, buy a home and a car and keep the ultra rich man rich. If you can't live on $400 a month while not relying on anyone to help you and NOT become or dream of becoming the next Bill Gates then it is solely your fault, you are not trying hard enough. You are not sacrificing enough. What was the last thing a CEO of Chase/BOA/PNC/GM/Nike/Dell/Sony/Samsung/HP/Shell/BP/etc has had to sacrifice? oooo yeah they pay more taxes which we never hear the end of and which they have created that problem themselves.

Yeah for over the past year as I have recovered I have had to hear "friends" on the right tell me I should have rather died then be saved by Obama care. That because I can't work due to the stroke, I am nothing more than a burden on society. I fucking got so sick of hearing it every time I turned around from "friends" people I thought I had mutual respect with, that I tried to kill myself at the end of June. I downed a full RX of Ambian and about 15 Trazadones. Then I still got grief from those people because I should have died and saved tax payer money.

When a party is more fucking worried about money than people, that party should NEVER fucking govern or be allowed near government. I served in the Navy to defend this country for people to have attitudes like that? What has happened to this country? Why is there so much hatred and so many people who would rather see "friends" die than to be helped? IT totally just.... I don't understand it.

That's why attitudes like Eddies "live on $400 a month and shut up" raise my ire so much. I've dealt with it for the past year, every fucking day it NEVER ends. So yes, there is hostility, just as anyone being told that they should die rather than be allowed to live at the cost of taxpayer money. Was it a bad break? Yes. Was it something that could have been prevented? Yes, but because I didn't have insurance and at the beginning it wasn't life or death so hospitals/doctors did not have to see me, it did get worse and to a life or death situation. Should I have died because I just became as the GOP would see it "a burden on society"? NO, and as I tell people, hopefully you or a loved one never has to go through it like I did. But if you or they do... then don't ask me for sympathy if the program to save yourlife or their life isn't there because you'd rather give a billionaire a little more money in tax relief.
