Unfortunately, since many politicians are a cowardly lot...at least up on the hill. They tend to placate those who have the audacity to actually rage forward.
However, Cruz pissed off a lot of them after the shut down...actually saying he didn't think it would work in the first place. After the GOP threw down and lost the stare war.
They're not going to give him any initial capacity. So I agree with @Aceventura here.

BUT, it wouldn't surprise me if he somehow wheedled his way up over time.
He may be a factor in two years or more.

These type of weeds tend to grow back...
Especially, since the media tends to fertilize them. (fuckers will put anyone on just to gain viewers)

You gotta admit...Obama is at times very good at trolling and trapping the GOP... (not on Clinton level though)

Loretta Lynch, Federal Prosecutor, Will Be Nominated for Attorney General

A black female who's an excellent prosecutor.
Not that she's not perfect for the job...she is.
And she's got hard nosed and tough on crime too.

But they will get the "shakes", it will surprise me if they don't.
Stereotypes not withstanding, I'm just going by their past tendencies. (they're getting better, but there are still some chomping at the bit and foaming at the mouth)

The fun part on this one is she's the prosecutor who brought the charges Michael Grimm, Staten Islands congressman.
You know, the one who threatened to toss the reporter off the balcony and they reelected him anyway.
You know he's going to call in every favor he can to block her confirmation.

    What can I say?
There are an awful lot of people who get all of their information from places that never mention anything positive about the president and are willing to flat out lie if it serves their purpose.

I wonder how many are willing to call a spade a spade: America is currently rife with propaganda.

That word seems harsh because it's often associated with the worst aspects of Italian Fascism, Nazism, and Soviet Communism, but I say don't let that ruin a perfectly serviceable and suitable word.

"Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view."

It is simple...Most voters who vote Democratic don't vote in the mid-terms.
Hell, many don't even know there's an election.

    So, by default...the GOP gains.

Add on top of that, the Dems ran scared from Obama...cowardly, then had nothing to speak of.
The GOP kept their stupid traps shut.
So...many just voted the way the media was harping on...which is the controversy. (anything negative)

    Thus, the Dems lose.
It's six of one, half-dozen of the other.
    Crazy or Spineless.

And unlike much of the rest of the post-industrial world...Americans are not as politically cognizant.
    Their mindset is very linear.

Besides, only 1/3 of the voters went to the polls.
So, those who went, picked the winner.
    That's mostly older white folk.

Since 1942...2 term presidents have always had the opposing party win.
Perhaps, this is the subconscious way Americans keep the balance of power???

It's going to be totally different in 2016...the Dems have the full advantage.
Add to it, the party in power always gets blamed...that's the GOP.
And if history shows...they'll likely fuck up somehow.

Americans are just like anyone, their own worst enemy.

Obama has already shown that he's lost his patience.
And actually, that will be interesting how that comes out...
Will it be good? Bad? or SSDD?

I thought this was a good take on why the Demorcats lost ground.

Fact Checker - a rare Geppetto Checkmark "no Pinocchios"
Obama’s G20 claim of the ‘longest stretch of uninterrupted private sector job growth’ in US history

And it's starting to show...the market is hot.
The trend is starting to head to the "employee's" advantage...not the employer's.
So you may want to start putting out "inquiries" on the job boards...just to see what's out there.
Not that anyone will make "decisions" during the holiday season...but by the time mid-January comes around, businesses will start hiring like crazy.
May be time to strike while the iron is hot. Make your mark.

I wonder if Obama will get any credit by the time he's still in office??
Typically presidents don't get kudos until 3-4 years after their terms.
    Voters are a fickle bunch.
    Presidents are punching-bags.

This could have been avoided if Boehner had the backbone to stand up to the Tea Party members of his caucus and the bi-partisan comprehensive immigration bill passed by the Senate last summer would have passed the House as well.

And the outcry of "illegal" and imperial president" is laughable given the precedents by not only Reagan and both Bushes but others as well. But it feeds the conservative feeding frenzy.

The devil is in the details. He can certainly defer deportations and offer some level of work permitting.

There is an interesting article (pre-election) in the conservative Washington Examiner quoting a Republican immigration law expert at the Federalist Society and how nothing he will likely propose would be unconstitutional.

On immigration, Obama may be cynical, but he's not breaking the law | WashingtonExaminer.com

The larger issue is that the Republicans will not or cannot bring a comprehensive reform proposal to the table. The extremists just wont allow it.

    Balls to the wall.

The GOP is going to regret playing hardball with him his first few years...two can play at that game. He's got nothing to lose. (...and what are you going to say about him anymore???)

You can hear in it a bit of the ol' Bull Moose himself, Teddy R. ;)
(or even Reagan, "tear down this wall")

OK, I haven't participated in this thread in a very long time. I'd like your opinions:

What do you make of the major networks, and some minor ones, not carrying the presidents address live? Note--If my TV viewing observation last night were accurate, some of the networks changed their minds (??????).

I think the networks and newspapers are fickle and arbitrary.
Unlike in the past, where there was some tradition and respect given to the government...now in the 24/7 total media age...it's about ratings and what those execs consider what will get ratings.
Now, they pick and choose as they do with TV shows.
Which is why "if it bleeds, it leads"...or if an exec has a bias or arbitrary judgement/opinion...it gets played. (or not)

All they are thinking is two things...
    Will this get attention.
Can we make money from it.

And network execs may be even more sketchy than politicians...so they'll shy away from any negative or "boring" or what they deem not important.
News is not news anymore...at least not on TV.

This is a point proven by Fox...no matter what side you're on.
    It's all about the Benjamins.

Benghazi debunked (by a GOP led House committee yet)

Question: Can anyone name ONE thing accused of Obama so far, that is true??
I want to check my memory.

Oh yeah...and the friggin' GOP lawsuit vs. Obamacare has been filed - link
    tenacious little shits aren't they??

probably lose that one too...

Y'know...for the next two years...I'm don't think I'm going to be able to keep up with the level of stupidity and insanity
with the back & forth between Obama & the GOP.

It will be like one big docile beastie vs raging horde of red ants being watched by a flock of wandering sheep waiting for their shepherd. (Obama with prez powers vs. GOP with the Dems on the side waiting for Hillary)
