I have two perm attached A2 flashhiders so I've been looking at halos, renegades, and the KAC suppressor. The one in yhe SCAR is. 7.62 mini which is pretty versatile, if not super great in noise reduction. It goes on my scar and my long range rig.

It really does change the weight balance of the weapon.

Body armor is great in that you can PT with it, and u can wear it when u go to tactifud classes. Neither the suppressor or body armor gets used often, for civvies like us.

 

Did you go the NFA trust route or buy it as an individual? My primary reason for getting a can would be in case I had to shoot the rifle indoors. A few months ago I had my first experience of having an AR-15 shot near me without having my ear pro on (it was my fault) and that wasn't a pleasant experience. Of course people will say getting a can is a waste of money, just buy good electronic ear pro (which I have sitting next to my rifle right now) and put it on if someone breaks into your house. But let's face it, that's too dorky and doesn't look cool.

I bought it through a trust--however, the issue now is that the trust is subject to a administrative rule change, so there's a risk that it won't get approved b/w now and when the ATF clears it.

After I buy my ammo for the year I'm lucky if I have enough to try out a new widget.

Divorce, my friend. Though the way traffic has been going, I'm a lot more likely to get run over on a stop or crash investigation. Distracted driving is killing a lot more officers than anything else right now.

Its hard to do an isoceles stance when you can't find a place to put down your doughnut. You got me thinking for a second. I wonder if some of that comes from having about 99.9% verbal compliance. I have been on two years and have yet to have someone really challenge me. Just our presence and uniform is enough for the vast majority of everyday encounters. Which leads to a lot of complacency. Somebody who conceal carries expects that if they ever have to draw they will be shooting. We draw as a possible point in the force continuum. Soldiers go out to actively confront armed enemies. But most of what we deal with is compliance.

 

There's a buncha cops and lawyers in my unit. No shit, my XO always has a box of donuts nearby--reinforcing the stereotype!

 

I have yet to buy a doughnut in uniform, and I probably never will. Especially if I continue to carry an extra 30-40- pounds.
