Sadly, after tomorrow we'll be without football for a while.

Manziel has definitely shown a lack of maturity. I don't understand his expectations. Johnny had to know that many hot college QBs failed in the NFL, and very few made an immediate positive impact as rookies (also keep in mind Kaepernick and RGIII flashed then crashed). Did he really/truly/seriously think that he was going to take the NFL by storm? Not realize that he might be a flop? Not realize that he might have to actually work hard for (X) number of seasons to learn the complicated NFL offenses & defenses?

Alcohol, "friends" that tell Manziel what he wants to hear, & beating his GF are just adding to his problems.

Edit--I heard a report, that I haven't checked into, on the local TV news saying the cowgirls are no longer interested in Manziel.

    Yes, no, and no. :p

It seems that he grew up disconnected from reality and was enabled to believe he was the exception to every rule. Even his style of play, often turning chaos and a broken play into success, fed into it. I think he has been done a disfavor by everyone from his parents to his coaches to his fans, always being protected from the full fallout from his decisions. Now, as it is finally happening, he probably still can't grasp the price he'll pay. Hopefully he pulls out of the nosedive before it costs him his health and life, or someone else's.

Perhaps the idea of being Johnny "Just Another Guy" Manziel*, instead of Johnny "Football" Manziel is driving him into a deep depression.

*He gets no sympathy from me if that's where he lands. The chances are very good he'll end up having what amounts to a do-little-or-nothing job with a nice salary courtesy a member/some members of the Texas A&M Alumni Association, or a similar "job" with TAM (do a search on Vince Young & UT).

Anyone else skipping out on being at a SB party this year?

Years ago I had a couple of times where I went to SB parties and they ended up being so crowded with people who didn't actually want to watch the game (or even the commercials) that it was hard to even pay attention. Ever since then I am pretty picky about going to a SB party. We have one about every other or every third year, and we keep it small/limited to a few friends who actually want to watch the game. This year we decided not to have one. Got invited to go elsewhere but decided to stay in with some carryout Hooters wings and some homemade pizza. :)

I don't know anybody these days who hosts a SB party, and I don't because of problems with our house. Our neighbor has one of his large grills/smokers going; they're great folks but his SB GTGs are usually family-only.

We have some pork spare ribs slow baking in the oven, along with a couple of potatoes. I'm not sure what veggie we're going to cook.

I'll turn the TV over to CBS at 5:00 CST just to see if there are any last minute reports, and to hear the 'experts' picks.

I watch some of those SB MVPs that look ancient. Then remember that I watched those games. And realize I'm getting old too.

Not exactly the game I was expecting. The Panthers relative inexperience is showing, and Phillip's D has been outstanding.

If it's your 200th win you should get the game ball. So I'd vote Peyton.

    @ralphie250, seriously?

Cam Newton rubs a lot of people the wrong way, talks too much, but even so:

    That meme is extremely racist.

    -------------------------------------------

I haven't had time to check, but I've been reading the Kubiak didn't mention Wade Phillips by name in his post=game interview.

I'd vote for Denver's defense overall for the game ball and MVP.

Honor Peyton for his overall career in some other way; his actual performance in the game was mediocre (and that's being kind).

Peyton has had an outstanding career which lead him the brink of his record setting 200th win. The 200th win--and several wins during the regular season and in the playoffs leading up to it--only happened because of the Broncos defense.

The Broncos defense did exactly what it needed to do, harass Newton into having a horrible game (his numbers are actually better than Manning's, even though their QB ratings are extremely close) and get turnovers to help the struggling offense.

Peyton deserves his accolades, but not for his performance in Super Bowl 50.

yes mannings performance was crappy, but he still got another ring
