I'm looking forward to the games tomorrows. It'll be nice to see which teams are in the playoffs, and maybe not so nice to see which HCs get the axe.

One of the cowgirls executives, one of the Jones but not jackass jerry, has said that garrett's job is safe. Probably, but we'll see.

Garrett would have to burn Jerry's house down to get fired this off-season.

Had they ended up with the same record with a healthy Romo and Bryant all season, maybe it'd be different. But Jerry will (mostly rightfully so) blame this year on the injuries.

The Houston Texans wrapped up the AFC South title. Yes, their division was weak thanks to the Colts collapse. Yes, they closed the season against two lousy opponents.

    But I'll take it.

While I don't expect the Texans to go far in the POs (they could depending on who they end up facing), I'm reminded of when the Ravens won the SB with a so-so offense and very stout defense.

    ------------------------------------------------

Fitz fell back to earth today.

    ---------------------------------------------

Garrett is probably safe, if for no other reason than jackass jerry will refuse to admit that his golden boy is fool's gold. I disagree re the injuries. Many other teams who have made the POs or are still in the hunt did so with injuries to key players. The cowgirls coaches should've stopped the implosion, but didn't.

Not many teams in the playoffs were missing their star QB for 12 games and had their second best offensive option miss several too.

The ones that did make the playoffs with comparable injuries (maybe just the Pats were even close?) had WAY better GMs than the Cowboys did. I'd argue that the problem with the Cowboys isn't their coaches, and isn't even their owner. It's their GM. ;) :p

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

This may be the understatement of the year (OK we're only on day 3).
    What a disaster of a 4th quarter.
My heart aches for him but at the same time it reminds me why he was cut from the Bills in the first place.

Yes, their main problem is definitely the GM :p. Who is also the owner and shadow coach. The thing with romo is, you can't really say the 'girls would've been that much better with him.

I still say much of the blame for the cowgirls going from 12-4 to 4-12 falls on the coaches. If there was lack of depth, blame the GM as well as the coaches. I wonder if the coaches who know the weak spots have any say with jackass jerry re player personnel?

That's been the problem with Fitz, he's a yo-yo (up & down, up & down).

They were 3-1 in games he played in this year. 1-11 in games he didn't play in this year.

There is a stat kept called WOWY (with-or-without-you) that tracks what teams do both with and without their starting QBs.

For his career, Romo is 3rd all time in that stat. Only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning rank higher. The two guys just behind Romo are John Elway and Drew Brees.

I generally dislike the Cowboys (though admittedly not as much as you do :p ), but I don't think it's accurate to think they'd have been anywhere near this bad if Romo was healthy this year. Especially in a weak NFC East, and given the fact that six of their losses were by a touchdown or less. Just my $.02.

Romo has some impressive stats (a romo fanboy on another forum posted a long list). His stats don't reflect his December collapses, and his failures in PO games. To be fair to romo, the same thing could be said of other QBs.

It's still on the coaches to adjust their game to the QB, something the 'girls failed at spectacularly. The fact that they played so poorly in the "weak NFC East," which it certainly is, reflects that.

I have no sympathy for the cowgirls, or any team, that whines about injuries. The Texans managed to finish 9-7, win their division, and make the POs using four (or was it five?) QBs.

There were several teams that won games they needed to win, or to improve their PO spot. Congrats to the Bengals and the Steelers (the two that come to mind).

I think your Cowboy hate is clouding your judgment just a BIT there my friend. :p

I'll give you two guesses as to who has the highest Quarterback Rating in any December ever. First guess doesn't count. ;)

Definitely! Hating all things dallas cowgirls (with the possible exception of the cheerleaders--well, no, I hate them too ) gives my life meaning ;) :D.

Great December stats for romo? Other than proving my previous post wrong, S-F-W? As I previously posted stats can look great and not prove much. Romo joined the 'girls in '03, became the starter in '06 (yes, I had to look that up), and in those nine years he has won how many PO games? Played in how many Super Bowls?

If the cowgirls didn't have a (at least one) competent back-up QB, blame the GM, jackass jerry, and the HC, garrett, for not realizing it and/or ignoring it. If the back-up QB was competent and the proper adjustments weren't made in the offense, blame the coaches.

I strongly suspect that the 'girls weren't as good as their 2014 12-4 record regular season record might indicate, but

    my judgement is clouded.

Perhaps little johnny and jackass jerry have been having some off-the-record conversations.

I'd be shocked if there weren't at least some off the record discussions between his agent and reps of the Cowboys.

Lovie Smith can't catch a break. The Bears fired him in 2012 after 10-6 season, now the Bucs fire him just when it looked like he was starting to get the team turned around. Some reports say Glazer is an idiot who will have a hard time finding a worthy candidate to take the HC job.

Edit: IMO Sean Peyton is lucky. The Saints are a mess and have been for at least a couple of seasons.

    -------------------------------------------

I've done a little research into where the Texans and Chiefs rank in various categories. On paper I like the Texans chances in what I anticipate to be a low scoring defensive battle.

I think they already had their new HC before firing Lovie. Dirk Koetter. I could be wrong, and they have to technically honor the Rooney Rule, but I think he'll get it. And I think they fired Lovie because they wanted him to have it.

    We'll see.

I did a little quick reading on the Lovie Smith and Dirk Koetter situation. It sounds a lot like the Wade Phillips and jason garrett situation in Dallas.

It'd be nice to see Lovie Smith land with a team that would actually give him a decent amount of time to show what he can, or can't, do as HC.

@Borla, what was the deal in Chicago with Smith? I recall that his firing there was widely considered to be a shock, and a mistake, esp. given the Bears struggles over the last few seasons.
