NFL 2014 season thread: The good, the bad, & the ugly.

I caught an interview (brief, definately didn't tell the whole story) with the Saints fan on CBS, he clearly falls into the "But I'm owed!" category. IMO.

He said he did it so that he could give the ball to his grandchildren, he wouldn't done it just for himself (I got the distinct impression that he felt like he deserved the football). What I found disturbing were the reactions from the other Saints fans, they seemed amused. As I previously posted there might've been something going on between the two before the "interception." Maybe she deserved it, maybe he was just being an ass, perhaps a bit of both.

 

First & foremost, congrats to the Raiders.

Ryan Fitzpatrick had a full long beard when he started for the Texans. It didn't seem to help him.

The Bengals are playing well, while the Texans are trying to gel as a team. But the Texans have a good track record of tripping up the Bengals.
The Texans beat them in the 2001 WildCard game with backup QB T.J. Yates.
They managed to beat the Bengals in the 2012 WildCard game despite their meltdown that started after the Patriots game. Which unfortunately carried over into the miserable 2013 season.

 

Congrats to the Bengals. They definately figured out the Texans flex-but-don't-break defense. The Texans defense kept the Bengals from scoring a lot of points (the stats minus the points scored would indicate a total blowout win for the Bengals), but allowed them to keep the ball away from the Texans offense. If the Bengals ever learn to play well consistently for the entire game in every game, they'll be a serious opponent for any team. Unfortunately, their inconsistent play is their trademark.

The Texans limited TOP (understatement!) might not have mattered since Mallet showed little of the poise he had shown against the Browns, and the Bangals D kept Blue in check. Our offense was pathetic, period.

What can be said about the fucking Giants that hasn't already been said? I'm surprised the Eli "I didn't see any open receivers" Manning kept the Giants in the game. While getting the first down was no guarantee that the Giants would get within field goal range before time ran out, running a route six inches short of the first down was pretty stupid.

At least the Eagles won, didn't give any ground to the cowgirls.

 

Worse than the Lions v Patriots (and Cardinals, and...)? I'm having trouble staying out of a "Same Old Lions" frame of mind. I'll have to give a lot of thought before picking them over the Bears on Thursday.

We're getting into the make-or-break part of the season. If nothing else it'll be interesting to see which teams step up, and which one fall down.
