Clowney isn't winning over the fans in Houston. First he declares himself unable to play because of an unspecified (to the media at the time) illness, which is unrelated to his leg injury. Then someone notices that he sent an Instagram message during the game while he was on the bench.

It seems to me that a rookie should be watching the game to learn as much as possible, even the opposing teams defense. OB joked about the incident in a press conference, but something tells me he's going to have much more serious discussion with Clowney. Which he should IMO.

Yes. Many reports said that Clowney's work ethic in college was questionable. Hopefully the coaches and players can light a fire under him.

Mentioning the Texans' defense, it'll be interesting to see if Cushing can stay healthy. Many of the "sports reporters" conveniently neglect to mention that he strarted his NFL career with a four game suspension for testing positive for PEDs. Some medical experts say that PEDs can overtax the body--players get larger & stronger, but that puts a lot of stress on their bodies, which can cause injuries that never quite heal.

Unfortunately the field at Reliant Stadium N/K/A NRG Stadium has been in bad shape for a while. One of the local TV stations did a report on how they remove & lay down the artificial turf in sections, the many seams can clearly be seen. I'm not clear on why they can't just install it permanantly and make repairs as needed. Doing so makes sense to me. McNair seriously needs to bring in some experts to solve the problem.

One of my neighbors knows one of the contractors who helped build Reliant Stadium, they've been very much involved in the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for over 20 years. According to him the retractable roof is a very pisspoor design that will not withstand any kind of seriously high winds.

you would think as much money as they have then they can afford to make it a better oplaying surface

Yep. There must be experts who know what artificial turf to use & how to properly install it.

Let Bob McNair know, or whatever group is in charge of the field at NRG ;).

    This could get interesting.

OB has decided to try Mallet as the starting QB. This comes as no surprise to anyone, except maybe Fitzpatrick. From the start OB wanted Mallet, but the Patriots kept him as long as possible because they had no pressing need to release or trade him (I strongly suspect they wanted to keep Mallet away from OB for as long as possible). If Mallet had signed with the Texans in the offseason, and participated in all of the voluntary & mandatory workouts, and performed reasonably well in the preseason games, chances are Fitz never would've been the starter.

The Texans are headed for mediocre or lousy record anyway, might as well see the big guy (literally) can do. Mallet's passing record in real games is 1 of 4. He's never been impressive in preseason games with the Patriots. And he's been in the NFL four years. The bye week should, hopfully, work in the Texans; favor.

The Texans didn't lose this week :D.

Congrats to the Lions for another win.

Is it my imagination, or were there very few really good match-ups this week? What does it take for the officials to call pass interference?

I didn't watch the cowgirls v. Jaguars. Seriously, why would I?

When we got home from the grocery store the Seahawks were down 17-14.

What are the people who were saying "The Steelers are back!" now saying?

I need to look up the final Bears v. Packers score. Done. I'm surprised that the Bears put up 14 points.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

The Bills were stomach turning this week.
They dominated the Chiefs, then literally fumbled away the game. So typical.

    How about Kaelin Clay?

How many synonyms are there for dumbass?

OK, it's not the NFL, but this thread seems like a good place for it.
