It seems that in the bengals game Mallet played with a torn right pectoral muscle, and is now out for the season. I hope that he recovers, and gets a chance to show what can or can't do in the NFL.

There are reports that his injury was known several days before the game. If so, who made the stupid decision to let him play? I find it very unlikely that he was able to successfully hide the extent of the injury in practice. He was basically guaranteed the starting job over the last eight games, short of a total meltdown, yet decided (perhaps he was told) to play.

Some very stupid decisions were made.

The only positive is the Texans MIGHTstumble across a really good QB that SOMEHOW flew under the radar.
    Yeah.................right.

OK some worthless comments re yesterday's games.

Congrats to the Lions. They had me worried, and I missed all of the third quarter and most of the fourth.

The 49ers. If someone here who follows the NFL closely could explain their slide into ineptness I'd like to hear about it.

Woo hoo, Eagles! Beating the cowgirls in jackass jerry's shrine to hubris is sweet.
The only downside & concern is the Eagles blew four red zone opportunities to bury the cowgirls. If they'd scored TDs on the first two, the game would've pretty much been over at the half. Now the Eagles need to squash the 'girls playoffs chances.

I recall Borla making a post that Richard Sherman isn't the dickhead that he acted like after a game last season (the SB win?). IMO Sherman needs to quit listening to the praise being heaped on him. He lives up to it on the field, but his dickhead behavior is becoming more & more frequent. He certainly isn't the only NFL player who acts as though he just singlehandedly won the SB after every good play that he makes, but his high profile draws more attention to it.

I remember when Sanders got KOd in a game, damn near had his head torn off. A lot of people enjoyed seeing it happen to him.

    Edit ---------------------------------------

How about Bryant's rants on the sideline, esp when he mouthing at the defensive players? Ha, ha, ha on him, the 'girls defense didn't lose that game.

Actually, he was worked up after the NFC Championship against San Francisco, and he did make a major play. He has a healthy ego on him with the skills to back it up, and he's also very smart; I think at times he's easily frustrated with what he perceives as idiocy in the organization (see: this week's "press conference"). This season's been a little rough; teams have been avoiding throwing in Sherman's direction.

Another issue at play in any victory over the 49ers for Sherman, beyond the simple rivalry between Seattle/San Francisco: he and his little "brother" on the team, Doug Baldwin, were coached by Jim Harbaugh at Stanford, and have some lingering issues with that, as it seems neither of them like Harbaugh very much (especially Sherman). Doug Baldwin and Richard Sherman survived Jim Harbaugh, thrive under Pete Carroll - Audibles - SI.com In an interview before the NFC Championship last year, Sherman declined to speak at length on Harbaugh, instead discussing how much he preferred Pete Carroll's coaching style. He can be exceedingly polite when he wants to be; the dude was a communications major.

I'm in no way questioning Sherman's talent, dedication, & accomplishments.

But he seems to want the attention, and the endorsement money, without learning how to handle his celebrity status. He shouldn't scream "Look how great I am!," then be a dickhead when people call him a peacock. If he wants the positives he needs to learn to better deal with the negatives. Of course he isn't the only pro athlete to go through this.

Do you see the press conference he and Doug Baldwin put on this week?

I thought it was a fairly creative way to handle some of the flak he's gotten for being who he is.

Richard Sherman, Doug Baldwin mock NFL in news conference | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo Sports

I don't always agree with everything he says, but stuff like this gives me the impression he's a pretty smart guy. Between this, and the things he said postgame last night, I get the feeling he is one of the few athletes who actually say mostly what they are thinking at the time. He reminds me a little bit of Charles Barkley in that aspect. Everyone complains that many athletes only speak in cliches, or give Captain Obvious replies, and that they want to know what they REALLY think. Then someone like Sherman (or Barkley) comes along, who is intelligent and opinionated, and they complain that he/they say more than they should. You are never going to make everyone happy I guess. Here's what I do know. Athletes are, at their essence, entertainers for the rest of us. And every time I hear about something Sherman did, I go look for the clip to see what he said. So I guess he's doing his job as far as I'm concerned. :D

Great post, man. So true, all of it.

I think Sherman possesses a self-awareness other athletes seem to lack; the stunt at the "press conference" this week just shows that, IMO.

@Borla, funny that you should mention Barkley. I'd vote for him as One Of The Biggest Loudmouth Dickheads Ever In The NBA. I admot to being bisased because by the time he joined the Rockets he was past his prime, and only showed any real effort against big name players. Yes, he could turn back the clock when he wanted to which he rarely did. But that didn't slow down his mouth.

If Sherman cultivates, intentionally or unitentionally, an image of someone that people love to hate (like Barkley) he's going have to deal backlash.

Barkley is one of my all time favorites. :p He's done lots of stupid stuff, absolutely. But he just seems more real than most.

In other news, Ray Rice just won his appeal to be reinstated to the NFL. He is reinstated effective immediately. Which makes him a free agent, any team can sign him.

The cowgirls, or the Raiders? The Raiders could use him  .

I don't follow the NFL that closely, I'm guessing that there some Felons-Are-Us teams that would sign him.

Barkley is a strange case. For some he's a likeable dickhead, for others he's just a dickhead, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

I don't think the Cowboys will sign him, they are pretty set at RB.

I think someone will give him a chance. Maybe not until after the season is over? He isn't nearly as good as he once was, but I'm pretty confident he'll at least be invited to OTAs and training camp by someone.

Enough about Sherman already  . Maybe Barkley will mentor him :p.

So how about those Eagles? I enjoyed the win, but am concerned about their red zone offense. If they keep the 'girls out of the playoffs I'm going to follow through on my earlier post and buy an Eagles cap. Not so much in support of the Eagles, mostly to PISS-OFF cowgirls fans.

Nope. He's my favorite. Doug Baldwin may be my boyfriend, but Richard Sherman is my favorite Seahawk, so I'll talk about him as much as I want to :p

So will he (puking emoticon). :p :p

OK, we're getting down to the games that really count for the playoffs.

What potential playoff teams do you see choking over the last four regular season games?
Not necessarily choking, because they are going to be many "pick 'em" games, and some good teams are going to lose to other good teams.

    1. dallas cowgirls. Obviously I'm going to choose the cowgirls :D , which is a hopeful selection but with some history to back it up.

    2. Colts. Too many close games that shouldn't have been close.

    3. Seahawks. See Colts comments.

    4. Eagles. Hopefully Chip Kelly doesn't pull any Andy Reid moves.

    5. Cardinals. OK, this is a shot in the dark because I don't know if they are as good as their record.

    Woo hoo!! How about theTexans?

Fitzgerald made the most of his second chance.
    Hopkins was on fire.
Watt was his usual great self.
The Titans tougher-than-expected run defense wasn't much of a factor.

Against a really lousy Titans team. Apparantly much worse than even their detractors had thought.

Yeah, I'm facing reality now that I've come down off the win buzz.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Packers, despite their red zone flops, brought the Patriots down a notch.

    ------------------------------------------------------

    Texans, and Cougars won.

    aggies, longhorns, & cowgirls lost.

A pretty good TG for football for me.

find it odd that the jets started smith last night over vick, i know that vick hasnt been impressive at all , but if my numbers are correct, smith hadned the ball off th jsut as many backs as he had pass attempts. give or take a few. we all know that ryan is going to be out at the end of the year, but man run, run, run. cant help wonder if there was a message there somewhere
you would think that the jets would go to the grocery store and find a bagger for a qb and hope they turn out half as good as kurt warner
