It's May. There isn't much else involving football to talk about this deep in the off season and this far away from preseason.

I guess they were somehow shocked that an openly gay guy had a boyfriend? :p

I did not realise the NFL draft took three days. Only knew three names (and barely at that) I read in the paper but the that factoid was interesting in itself. Apparently one of the local players from WSU was drafted by a team that I already forgot.

Is anyone shocked that manly men jocks tend to be more homophobic than the general population?

Totally unrelated to the 2014 draft....The Oilers had a couple of situations that might have involved gay players.

Defensive lineman Jeff Alm, who was incredibly talented and was a total hothead (why does a guy that big need to threaten other drivers with a shotgun?). Alm was driving when he lost control of his vehicle, and his "close personal friend" from childhood was thrown from the vehicle & died. After seeing his friends body, Alm killed himself (with his shotgun). While I don't remember anyone actually confirming the nature of their relationship, it certainly appeared that they were longtime lovers.

A wide receiver who will not be named. It took this guy a few years in the NFL to quit dropping passes, and once he learned to hang onto the ball he became a top receiver. He was eventually traded or cut (I don't remember which) by the Oilers, which surprised quite a few people. It wasn't too long afterwards that his NFL career ended; no team would sign him. There were a lot of rumors going around, and one of them was he was a closet homosexual, and it's also possible that he was caught in a compromising situation.
