Goodell's statement after the deal was struck was nothing short of insulting. I hope the fans don't forgive the league quickly, but us fans can be fickle to say the least. Between the lockout and the replacement refs, I'm in favor of a new commissioner. I'm also in agreement that despite the bogus report by the league about the Packers/Seahawks game and the statement from Goodell, it wasn't the owners and league simply agreeing to the ref's demands, but more about the money that was made and lost in Vegas during the 48 games the rejects were in charge of.

It's also very interesting that Golden Tate has decided to backtrack on earlier comments and is now admitting to shoving the Packers defender to the ground. He'll never admit he didn't catch the ball, but at least he's owned up to the other portion of his actions.

greywolf I'm not sure about the public ownership either, but I'm also doubting anyone could take legal action against the league considering the union they have established. I'm guessing the only way it could be brought up is if the union decided to try and press it, but I don't see that happening. Maybe KirStang can clarify but he's off hunting zombies with Plan9 so we may never know.

  2. Imagine if the Seahawks make the playoffs by one game. There would be one team that is out of the playoffs for the same reason.

This blows on soooooo many levels.

    *sigh*

It sucks being a 'phins fan.

At least there were some good games to watch... most important being the Jets getting annihilated.

  5. This. My roommate is a huuuuge Jets fan and it's always fun to watch him squirm.

I also want to know what the fuck is going on in Jim Schwartz's head that keeps him playing Matthew Stafford. Dude is an interception machine, except when he locks up and doesn't throw the ball at all (like, for instance, at the end of the game yesterday). Compare this to Shaun Hill, who managed to get us TWO TOUCHDOWNS in the LAST EIGHTEEN SECONDS of regulation play. (granted the last touchdown there probably should've been an interception as it was tipped by one of the defenders).
Stafford gets better every game, but he's still playing like a rookie.

  6. Indy Colts head coach Chuck Pagano to be hospitalized for 6 weeks due to leukemia - just discovered.

Good luck coach. The rest is just a game.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

Well I think we know who the real Buffalo Bills are now.
    It ain't pretty.
I could do what Mario Williams is doing (squat) for a fraction of the money.

the patriots are a machine. they are fun to watch.

but i might mention here the eagles, which are 4/5 of a great team.
sadly the missing 1/5 is an offensive line.
    still, hope springs eternal.

  9. How about those Bears!

For 3-4 years now the defense was supposed to be getting old enough to start slipping. Doesn't seem to have happened yet. 5 INTs, 2 returned for TDs. They looked really good.

  11. Both the Bear's O and D looked like they were having fun.

Da Bears pass rush schemes are some of my favorite to watch in the entire league. Too bad they'll never go anywhere. Jay Cutler could probably be a *great* QB if he actually had an offensive coordinator that would stick around. I mean, shit, what are they on now? Something like the 4th OC in 5 years or something? That's going to be tough for any QB.

(yeah, I'm ignoring his tendency to try and squeeze passes)

oh... and someone tell Gruden to shut the fuck up. Jesus H. Christ. I get so sick of hearing him spout.

I don't care if Tirico has 100 games, MNF needs an upgrade in the announce booth. Gruden needs to go. Don't care one way or the other about Tirico.

I actually love Gruden. Sometimes he'd be better dialing it down half a notch, but IMO he actually has intelligent insights, good predictions for coming plays, and a very good knowledge of QB play.

But I also couldn't stand many of the old school guys. Madden made me want to stick a knitting needle in my ear. Al Michaels detriorated fast over the last several years of calling games. Pat Summerall made me want to drink more than he was drinking.

I know MNF is trying hard to get magic in the booth. Lots of failed experiments over the last 15 years or so (Rush, Kornheiser, bringing movie/TV stars in for half the 3Q, etc.). But I kind of like the current guys. I don't like Tirico, the stories of his personal activities aren't cool in my book, but professionally he does a very good job. I think him and Gruden will end up being solid for the next several years. Unless Gruden decides to run off and coach.

I think the pink shoes helped the Bears defense last night. The Cowboys had some pink shoes, but not nearly as many. It was a fun game to watch.

And Gruden sucks in the booth. He's obnoxious.

As long as the Cowgirls lose I'm happy.

And what's this rumor of Gruden having a career? When was that? Whenever it was he sure as shit sucks on MNF.

:D I get that same impression every monday night. If he's that hyper and obnoxious and not taking cocaine... holy shit. Sure the man can provide insight and technical color announcing but fuckin a, it's like watching a kid with ADHD in a room full of circus acts.

That's why I like Gruden. He called the fake punt just before the snap and was right. Most announcers won't stick their neck out like that.

Football makes my Monday nights this time of year. :D
