I think the refs might've just screwed the Pats out of a huge game against B'more. From the angles they were showing, I think the FG on the final play might've been a miss, but was called good.

They really need to get the real refs back. Not that they have any motivation to since we are all still watching.....

EDIT - After a few more views, maybe the kick was good, but the officiating in general was horrible.

The ending to the Seattle/GB game was disgusting. The refs are totally unqualified for the job. What a joke.

And this is coming from someone who has very little rooting interest, and if anything, maybe slightly against the Packers. But that was CLEARLY an interception, not a TD reception.

What a joke. Goodell and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for letting this go on.

  3. Wow, crazy end to MNF.

The League needs to really consider its integrity and resolve the strike quickly.

I don't like the Packers, but they got shafted on that call.
    Time for a fan boycott.

Until the fans stop watching, there is little motivation to settle due to bad calls. It sucks.

If Goodell is really concerned about the good of the game he'd cave to the officials retirement demands and get them back.

wow, what a comedy of errors from that mn football... goodell has to be clamoring to open up the checkbook at this point to get the real ones back. i wish i could add these scab refs to my fantasy team

I'm glad you weren't able to do so. :p

We'll still have replacement refs next week, don't think this will change Goodell's mind that quickly.

GeneticShift Show me your everything is okay face.

The Packers are my least favorite team in the NFL, and even I can admit that they got shafted tonight. The substitute refs suck, but for the most part, they've been making horrible calls on both sides. Tonight the Packers were on the receiving end of awful calls, period.

The worst part, though, is how my Facebook feed is blowing up, as many people I went to undergrad with are from Wisconsin... >.<

One of the worst things is that everybody is keying on the denied interception that ended the game. That entire series of plays was rife with bad calls starting with the roughing the passer that took back the Green Bay interception on the first play of the series - with the QB out of the pocket, running from the GB player who was in the act of tackling him below the belt as he threw the ball. A very suspect call, but maybe not outlandish. There were flags on the next 3 plays, the third one being probably the easiest case of offensive pass interference I'd ever seen (up until the game-ending play, of course). But no, it went against GB, turning a 3rd-and-30 situation failure into a 32-yard first down. The entire thing was laughable, and the replacement refs are part of the reason this was one of the few games I've watched this year, and the main reason I won't be watching many more.

I'd be somewhat consoled if the Miami game was lost because of a sham call by these refs that shouldn't even be calling high school games, but they aren't the ones who missed two field goals. At least Revis is done for the season...

I'm actually more disappointed by the league handing down fines and penalties to coaches who don't "meter" their attitude towards these refs. Has the league forgotten that oh..I don't know.. wins and losses matter for something they call the playoffs? Fuck the league. If the refs bungle shit and can't even count yardage correctly on a consistent basis then they should get whatever they get. Fuck the league for not paying the real refs on top of it.

Some are starting to say that, when the NFL issues it's written explanation of the officiating last night, that they might invoke Rule #17. *hmm*

I wish Vegas would step in. Really, that would be the quickest way to resolve this.

All it would take (and I know it won't happen) is for most of the major books to say "Sorry, we don't believe in the integrity of the game without the regular officials, we aren't taking any more NFL bets until the labor issues are resolved." They'd have the refs back within a week.

Looks like the NFL is standing by the decision. I think they should, with the exception of the missed penalty the ruling was correct per the rules.

You are the only person of the literally hundreds I've interacted with on several forums and in person that think that was a catch according to the rules. You should tweet Goodell, he could probably use a friend right now. ;)

    uhhh

    yeahhh

that wasn't a catch in any sense of the rule. that was not a simultaneous catch, no, really. It just wasn't.You can't have a simultaneous catch when one player possesses it first, then another grabs it after that fact.

I agree the league shouldn't overturn the final outcome only if it is to dampen the drama a bit, but they need to get off their collective asses and make a deal with the REAL refs.

Doesn't bother me in the least. The truth isn't determined by popular opinion.

Jennings may have 'caught' the ball, but you can't establish possession in the air. This is the only frame that matters:

Look at who had their hands on the ball when Tate's feet touched the ground. You can't tell me that Tate didn't at all have possession of that ball and since he did it's a TD regardless of the extent to which Jennings also had possession.
