I stumbled on to Archer and it kills me.

The Rage in Placid Lake is a fantastic comedy, one of my all-time favorites.

If it's still available, be sure to watch the Brit version of "Coupling".

The League. Also, if you're a sports guy, check out "Ken Burns: Baseball". Best documentary I've ever seen.

I'm wondering if Netflix will make more of their dvd's available to stream once the pricing changes are in effect. I wasn't impressed with the selection, although this thread mentions a few things I haven't looked for.

I'd recommend Ip Man and Ip Man 2, movies about the man that started Wang Chun. And Donnie Yen is just incredible.

I'm browsing Netflix now. It looks like they just added "13 Assassins" to streaming. If you haven't seen it, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Also, I second the recommendations for Archer, Arrested Development and Spartacus.

I don't know if I mentioned it, but speaking of Ken Burns, "The National Parks, Our Best Idea" is fascinating complicated and history and catalyst to make you want to see the real wild America that was set aside (often at the expense of people living there) for the enjoyment of future generations.

Just watched Mercury Rising on Netflix and that ending is a convoluted mess. Seeing Alec Baldwin fall to his death from a high rise building was a bit different though.

Oh man, there are so many good tv shows on there it's ludicrous. Here goes some of mine:

    Sons of Anarchy
    Archer
    Battlestar Galactica
    Star Trek: TNG
    Swamp People (don't judge)
Masters of Horror (nearly any of them)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (not just for the kiddos)
    The League
    Louie
    Home Movies

    Movies:
    Oldboy
    Full Metal Jacket
    The Big Lebowski
    Ink
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Seems like they've really beefed up their streaming selection recently, maybe when they formulated that heinous plan to charge more for the streaming + DVD option. I'm actually sticking with both, just because as good as the streaming choices have become, there are a huge number of things that are still DVD only.

Let me second the recommendations for arrested development and parks and recreation. The first two seasons of dexter are also there (or at least were), and those are the good ones. Also, post apocalyptic fiction is sort of my guilt pleasure, so there are two decent series in there if you enjoy it too: jericho, and survivors.

Other than that, there are a number of classic films in there, like blade runner, clockwork orange, full metal jacket, name of the rose, clerks, towering inferno and my left foot.

But if you are into slightly more obscure stuff, a few less obvious recommendations are:
    - the wind that shakes the barley (good historical movie about the beginnings of the IRA)
    - Paradise now
    - this is England
    - You kill me
    - Che
    - Let the right one in
    - The Violin

I just finished watching the Dollhouse series. I'm sad it's over now. From time to time I watch Ruby Gloom on the weekends. Also to many movies to list.

I've been watching a lot of British programming on there, along with a good amount of ST:V. Skins is surprisingly good, way better then the American version. IT Crowd was another gem, although I don't believe they have the whole thing on it yet. Party Down is another great show that made me sad that that's all there is to it. They have a good selection of anime as well, and if you have kids they have a metric ton of shows for them.

Skins was fantastic for two seasons and then it steadily declined in quality in volume 3 and 4. Maybe the actors and story in season 1 and 2 were phenomenal while the story and actors in volume 3 and 4 were adequate.

i was watching a lot of brit tv series for awhile... "Skins" was an excellent mix of 20ish year olds comedy and drama. "Wire in the Blood" was a cool blend csi and hannibal lecter kinda stuff where all the episodes are ~90 min movies.

edit: sorry 2x post. i timed out before.

I'd absolutely second the vote for "Archer" posted above. It's completely unexpected, but it's absolutely awesome once you get into it a little bit. I dearly hope they add the other seasons so I can keep watching.

Most of my netflix time is spent getting back through Top Gear. It makes me want to be really really successful so I can buy some of those cars. A guy can dream, right?

THe BBC has been knocking things out of the park for me on Netflix. Jekyll was pure win. James Nesbitt nails Jekyll/Hyde perfectly. And while there are only 3 episodes of it, Sherlock is amazing. I'm actually pissed at Peter Jackson for stealing Martin Freeman to do that Hobbit and putting Sherlock on hold. It's that good. And of course, they have lots of Doctor Who.
