The bulls are finally getting exciting to watch again after becoming completely uninteresting to me after Jordan and nearly everyone else from the powerhouse team left and sinking so quickly. But they need to get some help for Derrick Rose to have any real chance at getting anywhere in the playoffs.

i'm stoked. i love both my l.a. teams and it looks like in spite of the delay we'll only miss ~ 10 games of a normal season. on top of that there will be a lot of 5 game weeks for teams to cram in the games so there will always be games on. i like having that there if i want something on in the backround or if i meet up with my friends at happy hour.

also it's nice to have a fantasy team to check when football's over.

i've never been a basketball fan (maybe cause i cant play it) but im glad they atlesat reached an agreement

  5. I would care more if every team in the league WASN'T in the playoffs. Why not forget the season and just have playoffs?

WHL is major junior hockey. 15-21 year olds. It's part of the Canadian Hockey League with the OHL (Ontario League) and the QMJHL (Quebec League). It's also very good hockey for a reletively cheap price tag.

As far as the NBA, I didn't even notice they weren't playing.

As far as the sport itself, I really prefer college hoops.

But I am very happy for all the peeps who'll finally go back to work. Arena workers, vendors, restaurant and bar workers, and especially that hot little cotton candy girl. Oh yeah, you know who you are....:p

I hadn't either. But is is cold outside, so I guess it's time for those overpaid guys to be dribbling in their shorts.
Personally, I couldn't care less. The only time I usually notice the NBA is when they're still playing in June or July, creating a distraction for baseball.
NBA highlights always seem to center around guys brutally jamming the ball thru the hoop from the top. Which doesn't seem like basketball, to me.

I just saw a story with this headline "Nets forward Travis Outlaw has broken right hand"
Egads, he must think he is a Trailblazer still. At least the fairly recent "Jailblazers" were able to stay healthy and make solid runs in the playoffs on a regular basis.

We haven't been the Jailblazers for quite a while now.

I'm bummed because the lead player responsible for that transformation, Brandon Roy, is taking a medical retirement due to his bum knees. I hope he finds a way to stay with the organization. He is a great leader.

I said "recent" because the team that ran into the Jordan buzzsaw in the Finals 20 years ago still feels not that long ago to me. I remember that roster fondly. And Rasheed was my favourite player in the "Jailblazer" era, it is not often you see a 6'11" power foward/center that can hit 50% from the 3 point line. The radio station Z100 in Portland had that great parody song "Rasheed's greatest technical fouls" or something to that affect that I still have somewhere in the 15th anniversary boxed CD set they released.
There is some major chaos happening with all of these trades or attempted trades going down now. It is good to see all of this activity after that stupid squabbling over more money than many small countries ever see in a year.

They are streaming the Trailblazer practice on nba.com - even seeing the team split into two squads and play themselves is so much better than the nothing that was there during this preseason.

o man, i'm lit up as a clipper fan! i've always accepted their underdog status and i even liked them with darius miles, haha. now they're poised to take on the league! i didn't care for them claiming chauncy until i read that they plan to use him as a 2! health allowing, they're going to electrify the highlight reel on their way to the west finals imo.

that said, i'm scratching my head on the lakers "trade lamar odom to dallas for cap space" move. seems to me lamar would be plenty enticing for any trade scenario for howard so i'd say they panic-spazzed there, especially sending him to the team that owned theam in the playoffs last year.

either way, between all that drama and kobe supposedly having his hops back from his experimental plasma treatment i'm geeked up for the season.

Using this thread rather than start a new one.
So far the season has been entertaining. The Clippers have been stellar to watch, especially compared to practically any year you can name.
I was disappointed but not shocked when Greg Oden went down with an injury, and the loss of Brandon Roy was not a huge shock either. The Blazers are still doing pretty decent considering, but I am still questioning taking Nolan Smith in the draft over the defense orientated rebounding magnet that went to Denver with the next pick.
