    Oh crap.

The extra days of rest didn't help the Rockets.

All week I've been up in the air whether the floor seats I had for tonight's game (Row B, in the section between the Cavs bench and the TV announcers, Row A is courtside, so one row off the floor) would sell.

It was a presale one of my credit cards made me eligible for, and I bought them on a whim, mostly as an investment. As the time got closer, and my price got closer to face value, I wondered if I was going to get stuck with them. I wasn't going to sell them for anything less than a small profit. If they didn't sell, I was going to go. As of this morning I dropped them to about $240/ea over face value, and decided that if they didn't sell we were just going to go. I gave myself the time limit of noon today, if they didn't sell by then I was going to yank them off the site and just be happy with going, despite it being way too expensive.

I got tied up with work stuff and finally logged on around 12:30-12:35. They were still there, cheapest seats available in that row. I logged into my account to take down the listing. They weren't there in my profile. I went back to the section view to see what seats were left in that section. They were gone. In the time I spent typing my username and password into the site, they sold. It was kind of bittersweet, because I had already resigned myself to going and trying to block out the cost in my mind. Instead I'll be watching from home (crossed my mind to use the profit to partially fund going anyway, but buying cheaper seats).

In the end it was for the best financially anyway.

    I know.

At first I wanted them to sell so I could pocket the money.

Then I was worried they wouldn't.

Then I made up my mind that "hey, this will be an awesome experience, let's do this!"

    Then they sold.

WTF are the Rockets trying to do, set a new standard for incompetence in the playoffs?

A 33 point blowout loss says as much about McHale as it does the players, namely that he completely lost control of his team.

I lost my cable sports, so I am no longer watching as closely. I'm glad Memphis is winning.

My, my, the Rockets bounced back with a 21 point win. Or maybe the Clippers just fell flat.

Can the Rockets get at least one more win to be respectable, or two more wins to advance? I'm not getting my hopes up. The Rockets had no excuse, absolutely no excuse, for losing game one at home.

I am seriously stunned. If you had told me that the Rockets would erase a 19 point deficit, go on to win by 12 points, all while playing in LA, I would've laughed at you.

The Rockets made a lot of people nervous when they let the Clippers get within eight points, but they managed to control the game at the end. If I were a Clippers fan, I'd still be totally POd over game six.

Now to get past the Warriors!!

An injury to Howard is not what the Rockets need right now.

Making it to the Championship series would be nice, but on paper that doesn't appear likely for the Rockets. Right now I'm just hoping that the Rockets make fight of it, take the series to seven games, and make the Warriors work hard for every point. If nothing else leave the Warriors battered & exhausted.

It was fun while it lasted.

Losing by 35 points in what was must-win-to-have-a-snowballs-chance-in-hell game, now down 3-0, has pretty much sealed the Rockets fate.

Clutch City? Possible, but highly improbable.

The Bulls look horrible for the way they handled the Thibs firing:

They are the ones who have done basically this same character assassination now to the two best coaches in team history. They are the ones who were sniping and back biting in the press the last two years. They are the ones who played to the media to try to tear him down. All the while he merely kept his mouth shut and coached the team to a ~.650 winning percentage and playoff appearances every single year, despite devastating injuries.

What a bunch of classless schmucks to end it with a parting shot like that.

Conversely, Thibs was classy in his response:

I hope he ends up somewhere quickly and has great success. He had his faults, but I'll take a coach who pushes too hard over a front office who wants to ruin people's reputation any day.

I want thank the Rockets for a great season. If nothing else, they knocked the Spurs out of the playoffs.

I agree with that and also have to thank the Warriors for knocking the Rockets out of the playoffs. Back when the Rockets had Clyde Drexler it was a different thing entirely.
edit: the best part of the season for me was seeing the Lakers crash and burn from the start. Just might be a *slight* Blazers fan. ;)
