Mom gets 99 years.

It's the irony/hypocrisy of a society that isolates an incident to the extent that any originating or pre-existing causes are negated. In this case, the negation has resulted in the placement of those considered to be in harm's way, directly into the hands of the originating cause of the threat.

Jesus wept.

 

When compared to other offenses (such as Sandusky), this seems wildly excessive. Considering WHERE it happened, it doesn't seem unusual. I agree with the others that my first concern after reading this was that the kids were in the care of their grandmother, who was asking for leniency for the mother. As a grandmother, where the hell was her outrage at this conduct, and her demand that her daughter be given some sort of treatment? And where the hell is the common sense with CPS???

As for the length of the sentence... this simply smacks of knee-jerk retribution. What possible outcome can be achieved with 99 years of incarceration that can't be achieved with 25 or 30? She'll certainly be beyond child-bearing in 30 years, and you might manage to recoup some of the cost of her jail time if she ever manages to pay some taxes. The mercenary in me says let her out; it's cheaper than paying her room/board/medical/guard for the rest of her life. Just don't let her near children.

 

Thats decades longer than you get for buggering little children. Certainly should never be allowed to have children in her care again - any children - but hasnt she gotten a lot longer than Papa Joe? - more than three times as long with all his victims. Over here, they say that women are more likely to be sent to prison for crimes that men are fined for - like not having a television licence, is that why her punishment will last for ever whilst the pervert in the min secure unit will most likely get trips out?
