She apologized and he accepted it.
They were both kids at the time.
I would expect she has grown up and grown past that awful behavior (one would fucking hope so).
I don't think it is a bye so much as a 'let's not ever hear of you doing that again'.

Speaking of consent, I'm sure most folks have seen this but I think it does a good job of breaking the idea down to its most basic parts.

Quite a list...but are they all truly Guilty...and to what extent?
Certainly Weinstein and Spacey need to be hung up by their tooties (and the like) - this is obvious and apparent
How about some of the others listed??
Sexual misconduct accusations in Hollywood summed up in one shocking infographic

I only see ONE woman...come on, I get inappropriate remarks and touching from female co-workers quite a bit.
It cannot be one sex that is THAT much skewed actions.

Badly in need of some clarity as to what constitutes "sexual assault." A pat on the knee or a little slap on the butt is not a sexual assault. An open hand pat is not a grope."Grab 'em by the pussy" is different from a pat on the shoulder or an arm around the waist.

Pretty soon, if a man even looks at a woman/girl some will construe it as some degree of sexual assault.

I would say that if you have asked someone to stop touching you (even if they are 'just' open hand pats) and they keep doing it, then that brings it up to the level of assault.
You've been nice, now you get to break something.
Kind of like with the ladies in the club.
You get one warning from the lady, one from the bouncer, then you are 86ed.

I think the term assault is being watered down too much.

    I grab your tits. Assault.

I keep patting your shoulder. Annoying.

I wouldn't want to say this in real life, but I feel that the sexual revolution in the 60's-2000's is also to blame. Women wanted to be able to sleep with whoever they felt like and would rather compete with other females over the top 20% of guys than to settle for a lifetime monogamous relationship with a boring average guy in their teens. And the feminist movement didn't go after the male definition of being successful by sleeping with the hottest and most women as possible. They rewarded the strong, aggressive, confident bully type who would be the leader with more sex. Then the whole idea of Playboy magazine was to convince the millions of guys that these women were obtainable and you could get multiple ones each month. Throw in that sex sells and women (and men) are making lots of money off of it, and before a month ago the vast majority of people got away with it without consequence. I can understand why certain rapes and assaults happen with passed out women or wasted ones, and why guys in powerful positions would use it to demand sexual favors.

Why the religious right didn't go after this and use this argument for the birth control issues and divorce ones, I have no idea. I have a feeling that the divorce rate is up there because a lot of people are able to cheat or get a new partner much more easily now. But, that is a whole other topic.

I think this perhaps is the real core of the issue. We can't even talk about this topic honestly unless we hide beyond anonymity.

Yeah, that is pretty obvious that it is impossible to defend the accused or defend the actions. Yet, just saying #metoo, or I wish I would have said something won't slow down the epidemic of this problem.

Well, the guys don't care. They want to get laid, and some of them will choose to take what they can't get willingly, or won't be able to avoid temptation if it is right in front of them and unable to stop it. The risk of jail time is a small price to pay, but it is the sex offender registry and public outing that really hurt. Nobody mentions how it impacts the good men that might date an abused woman in the future either.

However there are plenty of women on the other side who aren't going to change the type of guy they choose to date and the sexualization of women isn't going to change anytime soon. The women won't listen or say that we are blaming the victims though. And you won't see the media talk about the modern dating world and how messed up it is.

The generational gap is there for sure, attractive women can "abuse" most men whenever they want, there is a lack of relationship skills training growing up and interaction with the opposite sex in a non romantic setting, and politics is entering into this too since many people would support an abuser if it meant that they got to write the laws and enact the policies they want.

Yah, I saw the definition “self abuse” in my mom’s dictionary back in the late 60’s. Never had the gumption to report myself, but I did act out by ejaculating all over my bedroom in early adolescence.

Jeremy Piven takes and passes polygraph amid sex assault allegations

Now that's one way to counter bad media
    1. polygraph
    2. advertise success

Hope it works for him...question is
    A. will there be questions about it
    B. what is the affect on the accusers?

And IF successful, will others do the same???

But I do understand this statement...
Question is...how much are true reveals...how much false??
3% supposedly is the "normal" statistic for proven false.
But with all this coming out in Hollywood, the media and the vicious political areaa
    What's skewed??

I think the media has got to start treating these less like tabloid...and more like legal cases.
Tone, title and text needs to be neutral.
And unfortunately, the burden of proof in the US is on the plaintiff.

Weinstein and Spacey are fairly apparent, an easy call...many others aren't.
Franken's 1st stupid move is proven, he apologized, she accepted...the 2nd is questionable if it truly happened, sounds ambiguous...either way, there has to be proof. (sorry, that's how US law works)
    And so on...
all the way down the line
it's going to be long and messy
And the media needs to stop the bullhorn routine...read it like a legal case.

There are different levels as well. George HW Bush and Al Franken touching behinds over clothes isn't the same as Roy Moore, Weistein, Bill Clinton, Bill Cosby, and Trump with what they are accused of and most likely actually did.

    Boom, another day another one...

Charlie Rose fired by CBS, PBS and Bloomberg over sexual misconduct allegations

    This is what worries me.

We can't allow trial by media.

This is an easy one to claim, no proof, damage done.

There is nothing acceptable about sexual harassment and sexual assault. It should not be tolerated under any circumstances.

There is nothing acceptable about false allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault. It should not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The public, generally speaking, loves a good sex scandal. Proof of impropriety isn't required in the court of public opinion.

Bill Clinton had an affair with a subordinate
This was fully consensual, ML was in “love/lust”
    Govt is not the military.

That is NOT harassment or assault
Tasteless, perhaps...inappropriate, maybe...but not an offense.

You want it to be, then convince Congress to make a law saying subordinate sex is illegal.
Then watch much of Congress go to jail.

Let’s not wrap all sex situations all together
    That’s a slippery slope

Now you get opposition leaders hunting down other party players in a “gotcha” game of ethics
Like McConnell going after Franken but NOT others in the GOP
    It’s bullshit.

Adults still get to be adult.
    Consent is the factor here.

These are the sexual-assault allegations against Bill Clinton

Lets be honest about Clinton. He's had a list of accusers for a while, including one that was mysteriously murdered, Mary Mahoney is said to have been about to go public with Clinton Harassment claims.

Sadly, that's only one of the questionable actions of Bill (Teflon Willie) Clinton.
