Oh to be 23 again (with the knowledge I now have)....................................

 

Today I received my assignments for my chamber music workshop in June. While they didn't give me the piano trio I've been wanting to learn and perform for the last decade, they did give me a piano quintet I absolutely love, along with two other pieces that seem quite appealing.

I'll be listening to these pretty obsessively for the next few weeks—sorry, office neighbors.

Finally got my hardheaded twin daughter to shit in the toilet. Got their mom to mostly give up miralax because she was worried about constipation. I Got them with enough fiber to get things moving. I have them a third of the time but clearly I am the better parent. Or at least the miracle fucking worker.

 

Oh I'm totally going to gloat when she comes to pick up the girls tomorrow.

 

I'm not a doctor or a parent, but giving kids laxatives sounds like a very bad idea unless there's a real medical necessity. BWTFDIK?

 

Miralax is the shit.
It's not like some of the others.
They give it to babies, too.
Just give 'em a pint of Coconut milk ice cream.

You're awesome, my friend. Take it day by day. It's gonna be hard in the beginning. In time it should get a bit easier.

 

I bought a Craftsman cordless rechargeable screwdriver & flashlight set for $6.99. It wasn't in the box, but everything (except the user manual) was still attached to the inner carboard holder, apparantly it was never fully unpacked or used. The charging station and the flashlight worked just fine, but the drill wouldn't turn no matter how many ways I 'unlocked' the collet.

I could not find anything on this "combo set" on the Sears site or anywhere else. I've done a lot of makes, models, & parts research over the years; I can usually find info on just about anything.

Finally I decided to turn the drill manually to see what would happen (it's not like I was breaking it) before carrying the combo into a Sear's Hardware store for advice (that's a laugh). Well, it worked. The drill now turns works in "F" and in "R." It's not a great design, but it should be OK for general household use.

 

Finally starting a sense of 'picking my battles.'

Took me goddamn long enough.

 

I often say that true wisdom comes from knowing when to speak up and when to shut up. There are a number of adults in my life who still haven't learned that lesson.

I rolled onto my belly in bed a little while ago, and my cat crawled onto my back and started kneading. For once, he hit all my sore spots and my aching muscles actually feel a little better. Thanks, buddy!
