The battlestation I cobbled together works perfectly for my needs. Cheap-o mirror + desk lamp = lighted mirror, plus decoupaged Birchboxes to hold all my makeup. Repurposing is awesome.

It's amazing all the things that can be repurposed.

I've been working through Apartment Therapy's January Cure. (I know it's March but the year started off in the worst possible way so I'm doing it now) But I'm doing it! Took a car load of stuff to Goodwill and the house FEELS better. In a good way. It's very therapeutic to let go of things.

So I sent in my lesson plans to my colleague for the class I'm teaching for her for two days next week. She has over 15 years of experience, and she said my lessons looked great! I'm so happy, as she is less laid back about those kinds of things than my mentor was, so a compliment from her on my lesson plans is high praise indeed.

We got a lot crap cleared out of the kitchen cabinets and rearranged the stuff we're keeping....

Finally got approval for a project that we've been pushing for 3 long years.

And I get to be the project manager.

Now we have to delivery the damned thing.

I just mapped a network drive! All on my own! In XP! (with the help of a google search on the topic) Thanks for giving me a place to share this victory. It's stupid and little, but it makes my life so much easier.

It's not "stupid and little." One persons seemingly ordinary result is another persons major accomplishment. I can't figure where to find spell check in my browser, or why I can't see some vids posted on TFP .

"And I can't deny the fact that they like me, right now, they like me!" (paraphrasing Sally Field)

I'm getting good feedback at the moment on my work at my new gig.
Actually, a couple saying things like "we're moving forward faster than I've seen in a long time" and "we're light-years ahead where we were"
And so far, the CFO is liking where I'm going.

Paranoia - isn't it a lovely thing to have at a new job?? (you'd think I be used it by now...or that I'd be confident/experienced enough to be unconcerned)
But it's very nice to get actual positive feedback.

I can't tell you how many times I've worked in a black box or dealing with people's pettiness and whims.

Then again, we'll see where we're at in one month or six or 12...
What have you done for me lately??

Man, I'm worn down...I'm ready for my energy to come back.
    Springtime, take me away.

    I hear ya,

I'm concerned about keeping my job. Seeing signs all over the place that I'll get outsourced (again). Second guessing every decision I've made over the last year.
Meanwhile, my manager arranged a $3k bonus through my contracting company, asked me if I'd consider reemployment, and what salary that would take.

    Talk about an emotional roller-coaster.

Well, one thing I've learned, if your instincts are telling you this.
Start putting your name out there, see what options you may have.
Because, you don't have to take one...but its better to be employed to get another job, than not.
(yes, companies/mgmt are selfish pricks who want "proven" people and will steal others' to get it)

And even if they act first, you'll already be rolling by the time they do.
OR if they don't act...you can use your knowledge of the market to leverage your position and confidence.

Personally, I always keep my name out there. (and I periodically tweak my resume)
I do it under the premise that I take other off-hours side-jobs. (purposefully, noting that to them while emphasizing that they are priority)
And this IS true...but a bonus is knowing who wants you and what's available, where's the trend in your area.

You can always ignore/delete any email/call that comes your way. You don't have to do it actively, it can be a passive/periodic thing.
Why should you not play the field??
    They do.

My burrito has stayed intact the entire time I've been eating it.
    This is definitely a first.

A student I've struggled to connect with all year is coming around. I don't care if a student likes me; I don't expect that. But I do like to have or know some common ground we can share, and that seems to make a difference. Turns out this kiddo loves DBZ. He couldn't believe I knew what it was.
