Soda prices at the grocery store are through the roof. Even the store brands, which we buy, have gone up.

I suppose it's better for the grocery stores to mark up "little luxury" items like unhealthy snack foods and sodas rather than Jack up the prices on foods that are necessary staples to keep us fed.

Having said that, I can't believe what sliced bread costs now. Plain Jane crappy bread isn't cheap anymore, decent bread worth eating is damned expensive. The fresh bread baked at the stores is now the better buy.

I only buy sparkling water and add emergen-c or similar. I wouldn't know about cost of a can of coke.
Re luxury things....I have floor to ceiling, wall to wall glass on the backyard side of my house. So visiting a normal size window house...seems weird to me.
I have learned that a lot of 'luxury ' items are far cheaper 2nd hand.
Boots. I have whites packer boots that last forever. Recently upsized due to old fart feet get wider.
On ebay I've bought excellent used at $100, excellent Un used in the closet for 6 years for $300. But bran new off the website is a bit north of $500.

Also, glasses frames. Some folks buy $500 glasses frames and sell them at $100 or less after a year or so, maybe never wearing hem at all or just a few times. Specifically Mykita and iC! Berlin frames which are screwless and never loose their grip or get loose.

People who run storage facilities are always selling left behind stuff. $800 set of winter tires for $400 only used one season. You need to know tire size and date codes, seller integrity too.

Any time I can beat retail by 50% or more I feel like I win for geeking out on stuff and that feeling is kind of a luxury I spose.

Not needing to get in to work on a snow day is a huge luxury to me. I can usually afford it but my boss will usually want me to come in. Hoping it won't get too bad this coming week.

A wonderful new find for me...ultra cool pillows.
    Ahhh...so soothing.

I don't know about others, but I tend to run hot.
The feel of these pillows is invaluable.
Just have to flip to a cool spot and it is nice on the skin.

    Bonus, they're very machine washable.
So this allows me to keep them clean easily.
Why? Because the pillow cases take away from the coolness, so I tend to use them without cases...just direct while I'm sleeping.
Does it look good? Not the best, but who cares? Who's judging me and my bed? I don't have any SO and I'm not dating currently. So fuck it.
I just have 3 of them, and I switch them around as desired.

I highly recommend, worth the price...and I'll never go back.
Wait for one of the stores many sales and pick one up at half-price.

A few years back my wife & I spent a small fortune on new pillows. I don't remember what brand & model I bought, but it's really solid and has a cooling side, which doesn't seem particularly effective.

My wife got some kind of bamboo pillow, which she likes except it a little too solid for her liking.
