At work my wife used a refillable "K" cup (the one we bought was a generic store brand). She said it worked fine as long as she didn't overfill it. We used to put grounds in our compost heap.

  2. You have a grinder and beans. Use a refillable k-cup. Plan 9 turned me on to a nice stainless steel version. I use a filter to reduce sediment.

Sure, I could do that but if I'm already grinding the beans I might as well chuck them in the french press anyway, since that will output a better cup of coffee. The selling point on the Keurig is convenience and if I have to do all the grinding and washing it's not substantially better on that front than just making it by hand.

  4. Point taken. I like the convenience. I grind enough beans for a couple of cups and store it in a sealed container. 2-3 minutes in the morning and I have my "traveller" and I'm out the door.

I bought a cheap drip coffee maker recently, after drinking instant for nearly a year. I had gotten to the point where I was saying, "instant's not so bad!" I thought we were out of coffee a few days ago, so I made a cup of instant...and...UGH. I guess I'd just gotten used to it.

Been brewing Seattle's Best, Blend 5—dark & intense. The bag is almost gone, and next I'll be trying Gevalia Dark Gold roast. I still take it black most of the time, though I've started stirring in just a little hazelnut creamer at work since the weather's cooled off a bit.

I'm currently enjoying Earth Fare brand (there's that company loyalty) organic, fair-trade Tanzania peaberry. Rich & tasty in the percolator or press.
I recently inherited Dad's coffee grinder, so I can keep whole beans in the house again.

Keurig these days. Even at work. I kinda miss the old full pot dispensers. I used to drink coffee with cream and sugar but have gone to black with sweetner, sometimes sugar but most of the time, Splenda.

    Still the same.

Brewed strong. Folgers Black Silk weekdays. Fresh ground from beans on weekends. Milk and sugar, or sometimes sweet coffee creamer. Recently I've been using a very rich chocolate milk; it is NOT kids chocolate milk.

I have that kit as well. Good coffee, I am always afraid of breaking my cup :) I also have a Keurig and a Nespresso Vertuo set up too. And some jars of instant. You never know when there's going to be a coffee emergency.

I actually have 2 coffee setups now.
I work upstairs, kitchen downstairs...so I have an extra setup in my office...just in case I'm too busy to go downstairs. (but I still prefer the kitchen one for some reason)

    Includes Cuisinart 12-cup coffee-maker...Cuisinart Supreme burr-mill grinder.
And I never automate the coffee. (don't ask me why)

If it's fresh, I'll use honey.
If it's cold, I'll use agave.

It doesn't have to be fresh or hot...heck, I'll use it a day or so old, if there's enough.
Although, I do prefer hot and fresh...I'm just a lazy bastard.

Discovered a crack in the cheap knockoff Trangia-style alcohol camping stove and ordered the real thing—which I should have gotten to begin with, but #pandemicshopping—to replace it from Amazon yesterday, which arrived today.

#coffeeoutside date set for Friday morning before work with two friends I haven’t seen in months. Can’t wait... and I’ll be ready.
