Given the prevalence of idiocy (defined as non adaptive behavior in the face of unmistakable evidence of its non-adaptiveness) on both an individual and institutional level (cf. Barbara Tuchmann, The March of Folly and Charles MacKay Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds) that idiocy may, in fact, serve a necessary biological function. Something to think about.

^ Yup, like Darwin's award recipients.

I look at the people who continue to rebuild in flood plains or similar repetitively dysfunctional activities as the non-fittest in "survival of the fittest".

Are you occasionally - or perhaps frequently - bothered by idiots?

    Occasionally.

What do you consider idiotic behavior?

Behavior that negatively impacts others for no good reason. Standing in front of the line and talking on your cell while everyone has to wait for you to hang the fuck up and transact your business is a good one. But then, I'm the guy who says something about it, and that's usually all it takes.

Are there times when you're hyper-critical of everyone and everything around you?

Yes, but only when very stressed.

If so, how do you keep things in perspective?

A step back, a deep breath, and a wee dram....

Are you ever let down by the idiocy of someone you thought was smart?

Sometimes that's more related to seeing someone I think knows better jump to a wrong conclusion.

What has someone done to light your fuse recently?

Honestly, can't think of anything right now.
