I can't think of anything to talk about!

Wow it's like 3 conversations in one thread...got people talking.

Friends -Love it, amazing how there are still episodes that crop up now and again that I haven't seen even though I have seem some episodes 10+ times.

On the subject of tanning - I like it when I'm a bit tanned however I worry about the dangers of both burning or the complete opposite and not gettin any sun exposure and subsequent lack of vitamins. So I stick with a bit of common sense!

I am a loner, always have been, not sure I always enjoy it though. I think I'm an extrovert in hiding, I love being around people and not so keen being by myself. However when I'm in social situations it terrifies me as I never say or do the right thing, I feel like I missed out some sort of important life lesson. It is easier online but it carries the anxiety of being found out. I feel silly saying this but I would hate for people I know to read any of my forum posts as this would give them an insight into who I am, an unauthorised insight. I would also hate for anyone on the forum to meet me in person for fear they would be dissapointed in me. I feel weird admitting it but often wonder about these kind of things.

"I don't know what to say" has generated two pages of posts. You should have more of nothing to say.

Ask a dermatologist: a tan is skin damage.

    Spray-on tans are probably toxic.

  5. YES! That's the word I was looking for.

Yup. I understand that completely. The only reason I like online is because it gives me more time to think about what I am about to say - even if half the time it still feels like the wrong thing.

As far as meeting someone from TFP in real life, it would be awkward, because if you read my posts, you would know things about me that people in my everyday world, don't. I'm not sure they would be disappointed, maybe more like disillusioned.

hahaha I have never heard that expression before! And I swear I just peed my pants a little from that.

The only conversation I make is at work, with my boyfriends family and my boyfriend. I try not to talk to my employee's all too much.

haha I said the word joizee and it made me laugh too! It sounds like I have a Jersey accent. :D

  7. I realize the worst thing about not having anything to talk about, or anything to add to someone else's conversation, is that the happy posting bot won't let you get into all the threads you are watching or made. :(

I'm not big on tan lines. A nice, healthy, all-over tan is nice, though.

I think social situations are difficult for everyone in one way or another. It's easier online because you get to be anonymous - you can adopt a slightly different persona, if you like, and share thoughts and opinions through that persona. No one gets to look in your eyes or read your body language. In that respect, socially, it's a less risky environment. It's not a substitute for the real thing though.

I've never been good at small talk. I'm better now than I used to be but it's still uncomfortable. I suppose I've always envied gabby, bubbly people who can stand in line with complete strangers and go on and on about nothing in particular.

But if there's a conversation going on about something that fires me up, I'm in. Sometimes I can't help myself, Politics. Religion. Did the US fake the manned missions to the moon?

Doesn't matter if they're strangers, though I will admit I try and get a feel for the waters and what the general consensus is on the subject before diving in and I tread lightly if I need to - well sometimes. But that rarely occurs in a grocery line or doctor's waiting room. More likely to happen at parties or the DMV or on the internet.

If I were smart, I'd learn to embrace the white noise chatter over the more controversial stuff because I'm forever kicking myself over things I've said and written. At any given time I feel as if I've come off either sounding like a silly, ignorant fool or a pompous pontificating ass.

    Sometimes both, like now.

    You started a great conversation!

If it is a well thought out opinion, with a touch of knowledge thrown in, you shouldn't worry about sounding like a silly fool or a pompous pontificating ass.
