I cut my hair up to about ear length approx. once a year. Once it hits my shoulders, I know it's time.

I shave my legs and underarms...somewhat regularly. Although, you know, I'm single so I'm not militant about it.

I'll shave the bushline so that it stays in the panties about once every 2-3 months or so. That hair grows pretty slow and, you know, really not militant about that one.

    That's about it.

I get a haircut every 3-4 months and shave every other day. I shaved off the head hair, chest hair, part of the calf (for the tattoo), and half an eyebrow to determine how many months before it grew back to normal length. 6 months for the head hair and calf, 2 months for the chest, 1 month for the eyebrow.

Oh yeah...all you more "mature" male members may appreciate this thing that I've had to start dealing with.
    Hair in noses & ears.

Now that I'm in my 40's...I've now found it necessary with some periodic consistency,
to make sure that I don't have unnecessary hair coming from my nose...or from my ears.
Personally, I don't want to look like any friggin' Dr. Seuss character.

So, I have a small electric trimmer for this...razors are too ungainly to do the trick.
Makes me want to even consider laser treatment.

BTW...While I'm in "new old man" zone.
Friggin' white hair...those things are annoying as hell.
Not only do they stand out in color, if you have darker hair like me...but they are more erect than a 15 year old hetero boy in a cheerleader convention.
They don't tell you about this shit!

I see those things sticking out, either they are pulled...which is quite easy...or clipped. (got this one sucker on my eyebrow that's a pain)

And don't get me started on inflamed ingrown hairs in various places.
While being a "macho" man may look decent...it has once in a blue moon side-effects that aren't appreciated.

Speaking of white hair, that is coming in nicely in the beard now for my relatively young age. Mixes with the reddish brown and battling that grey hair.

I have my hair trimmed every six to eight weeks, I wear it long at the moment. I shave my armpits every morning in the shower, I shave my legs every few days, daily if it's warm and I'm wearing shorts/skirt. I usually shave down below but had a Hollywood last week and might keep that up as it feels really nice :D.

On the top, I get 'er cut roughly 3-4 months. When I have to control it with a brush, it's time to mow. On the sides and back, I tell the barber to use the #3 attachment on the clippers, #4 on the top. I would just shear it all off during the summer; it's wildly comfortable, I enjoy feeling the breeze on my scalp, and my mother-in-law freaking HATES it; but the wife doesn't care for it. I can live without it easily enough. The face gets shaved something like twice a week (or whenerver I know I'll be going down on the wife--she doesn't care for friction burn). I have shaved the nether region before--a few times for recreation, once for the vasectomy. I do enjoy it; just get tired of the upkeep after a little while so--like the big musical number at the end of The Lorax--I let ir grow.

Good lord, yes! Even at 34, I get inch-plus grandpa hairs in my ears every other damn week!
And ingrown hairs just suck donkey balls.

Oh my Zen, that is pretty funny.

I know a few that get the brazilian wax, ooch.

I like my legs to feel silky, so I shave everyday, and definitely like to keep a nicely close shaven bush, with a little design.

Hubby shaves his face using a traditional shaving brush and avocado shaving soap in an antique mug, uses some sort of high-tech Gillete razor, a healthy mix of old and new. No shaving cream provides the same consistency of foam and gentleness for his sensitive skin that he gets with a good brush. He shaves once every 2 days. He uses an electric trimmer for his nose. He uses clippers to trim his own hair (head) once a month rather than paying for a trip to a salon only to have the hair dresser/ barber mess things up. He usually trims his armpit and crotch hair at the same time. The rest of his grooming is something he likes me to do, we have built up a sort of intimacy with it, he says he likes the attention. He likes when I pluck his random strands of back and shoulder hair, as infrequently as they appear. He also occasionally gets thick and irritating hairs that grow from his ears, and I pluck those for him. I also maintain his cuticles and massage lotion into his rough hands and feet.

As for me, I pluck my own eyebrows, have since I was a preteen. It clears the sinuses and doesn't take more than a couple of minutes eveey week or two. It seems my eyebrows are trained well enough that it takes a long time for the hair to grow back. I also pluck nose hairs - again, a way to clear my sinuses. I also pluck the hairs off my toes and feet, it's something I do when I deep-moisturize. I enjoy the sharp feeling of plucking, I find it relaxing. If I'm over-stressed at school I often over-pluck my eyebrows or start plucking underarm hair to relieve stress. I shave my legs when I want to wear a skirt or if the hairs are bothering me. I tend to shave the bIkini area every couple of weeks, I dislike hair down there. My armpits usually get a swipe with a razor every other morning, though if I'm planning on doing a lot of hiking or field work in humidity I will leave them to grow so I'm less susceptible to a contact rash. Years ago I would shave off all of my arm hair as well, mainly because I hate unnecessary hair. But I've decided it's not worth he hassle. Washing with an exfoliant and using a light lotion to straighten my whispy arm hairs leaves me feeling fine. As for my head, I will go to a salon every few years, but for the most part I keep it trimmed and shaped on my own. I generally keep it a bit longer than my shoulders with a little layering. I add a mild hair lotion after washing to keep it from drying a frizzy mess.
I guess that covers all our grooming habits.

As for the hair on my head, I get regular cuts every 6-8 weeks. If I don't, I'll start getting split ends and then my hair gets super frizzy, and I dislike that. There's no way I could cut my hair on my own anymore--I used to, and I used to get compliments on my work. But now I have an expert hairstylist that I enjoy going to.

As for my eyebrows--I pluck them pretty regularly. I go back and forth between a superclean arch to a little bit of a natural look, depending on my mood and depending on how much time I have for brow maintenance. I usually sugar the sides and the center every couple of weeks with Veet strips and then I pluck the stragglers with my sweet Tweezerman tweezers. If you don't have a pair of Tweezermans, you're missing out.

I just use gilette, but somehow i'd like to learn it the old fashioned way... doesn't seem easy to do properly though!

Not a hairy person. No hair grows in my armpits and I can count on each hand the number of hairs that grow on each leg. None on my arms.

I have a healthy amount of hair on my head which gets a trim every 6 - 8 weeks and I'm right there with Avestruz as far as the ladyparts. As sex can be anytime, I try to keep it trimmed and neat at all times.

Eyebrows and eyelashes are a bit sparser than they used to be but I still find myself needing to pluck stray eyebrow hairs once a week.

I get my hair buzzed every month or so when it gets to a length that starts to annoy me. Only have to shave every 2-3 days.
Chest/back/pubes...not going to waste my time. TBH, I find the idea shaving/waxing/trimming my entire body to be just plain silly, but to each their own...

I need my head buzzed every 3-4 weeks or I start to look like shrubbery.
Thankfully my wife does it for me with clippers.

I get my head hair cut every 2-3 months depending on the goal - if it's short, I get it cut more often. If it's long, less often. If it's growing out, I try to leave it alone as long as I can stand it until I need help to get the scruffiness under control.

As for body hair.. I shave my legs every 2-3 days, and my axillas every day or two (every time I shower). My bikini line gets shaved every 2-3 days, and I usually shave the rest down to a landing strip approximately once a week, but more often if I'm dating someone. I don't like shaving it more often than every 3 days, though, otherwise it gets irritated. I started plucking just my bikini line over the summer (every 2-3 days), and I like the results far more than shaving, so I try to keep up with it but unfortunately don't always have the time or patience for it. I would wax, but I'm a poor grad student and absolutely cannot justify the expense. I need a sugar daddy.

I very rarely will shave my arm hair - I trimmed it a couple months ago, and it is still in the process of growing back in. I like that it looks a little lighter and more sparse, since it has been growing in during the summer and getting somewhat bleached by the sun.

I pluck my own eyebrows, although I tend to get them shaped by a professional (usually threading, but sometimes waxing) about once a year. I prefer to do the maintenance myself, though.

I cut my own hair (using a couple of different sized guards on an electric trimmer). I have a beard, but shave my neck up to the jawline. I keep the beard pretty short.

I'm fairly hairy, so no chest/back/belly shaving/waxing for me. I'll trim my pubes short now and then and like clean balls, but that's become less important since my sex life has died down.

I'm a guy, so I can use a Flowbee to cut my head hair. I haven't paid for a haircut in 20 years. ;-) The eyebrow, nose and ear hair (I'm close to 40) gets tweezed. I noticed some long, thin, white hair growing out of my forehead - disturbing! So that gets yanked as it gets noticed.

The pubic area is interesting. I've been tweezing the bikini area, shaft and balls for about 5 months. I've read up on it (including on this forum) and thought I'd give a bit of advice...

Originally, starting about 4 years ago, I trimmed the pubic area with an electric trimmer, but once you start doing it, you have to keep at it, and I was always afraid I'd cut myself, so about 5 months ago I just went to town on it with tweezers. Tweezing produzes no stubble, just smooth skin, like waxing, but cheaper and you don't need anyone to do it for you.

It hurt quite a bit the first time around - the thicker/coarser the hair, the more it hurts, and sometimes there was a bit of blood. You'd think that when you pull a hair out by the root that it won't grow back. Unfortunately, that is not true. It still grows back, but a lot thinner the fourth and fifth time around. You also get ingrown hair which needs to be taken care of with sharp tweezer tips to break the skin a bit, or a loufa to free the ingrown hair. The good thing is that tweezing is not really painful at this point. I've also been noticing that sometimes two hairs grow out of the same location. The thinner the hair, the likelier it is to break when you yank on it (maybe 20% breaks at this point and leads to ingrown hair) so sometimes it is better to pull on it slowly - it's less likely to break, even though it hurts a bit more. Also, make sure you have tweezers that come together over a longer piece of the metal, not in just one point, since the single point tweezers will cut the hair off rather than grasp it.

So now I am in maintenance mode. I like to think there's a bit less hair each day, but that's probably wishful thinking. For the bikini area (I do a landing strip), shaft, and balls (as far down as I can reach), I'd say I yank 50 - 70 hairs per day (it goes quickly), and it takes 30 - 40 minutes each day (I do it on the john at work). Doing it after a shower works best - all the hair is standing out. However, the better the lighting, the better. There is no substitute for natural light, preferably sunlight, to find all the hair, especially the lighter colored ones, which are invisible in artificial light. I'm always surprised at what I missed on a weekday on the john when I look at the area in sunlight on the weekend.

So that's it - for a bit of pain, you get a nice clean area, and if you stop doing it, the hair grows back but thinner, so there was some benefit at least. If you keep doing it, other than a bit of redness in the ingrown areas, you get a really smooth result.

  17. My mom is a licensed cosmetologist, so for my first 18 years of life she would cut my hair whenever she decided I needed a hair cut. Now, in my college years, I've gone from not having a hair cut at all my first year, to shaving my head every other day (using a HeadBlade), to taking my mom's Wahl trimmer to my head about once every month. The last time I cut my hair was the week before my birthday in 2011 (July), as I'm trying to grow it out again long enough to donate somewhere.

Facial hair gets cut whenever I'm not lazy. I used to keep a VanDyke style but I've since just started maintaining the goatee and shaved the mustache. I alternate between the two, letting the top grow whenever I feel like it and shaving it at my fancy.

I trim my nether regions whenever I feel like I want to. I shave them whenever I get sick of the hair being there.

    I don't do much other hair-related maintenance.

I'm not much into my appearance, can't you tell? :p

Shave the face about every other day. I could probably shave twice a day...

Buzz the nose at least once a week. Those white hairs certainly aren't to be ignored. Occasionally pull a stray white one from my mostly dark eyebrows. Don't do much body trimming, though if the woman were more into oral stuff I would gladly do it.

Now, if anyone knows a way to get rid of ear hair, I'm listening... (I mean permanent)

  19. GeneticShift

GeneticShift Show me your everything is okay face.

Depends on degrees of lazy and time of year...

I'm in science research, so I have to wear long pants daily, which means if I'm not having sex I get lazy on the leg shaving during the winter. If it's been too long, I Nair everything below the hips and try and upkeep that for as long as I feel like it. Bikini line gets shaved, other lady-regions get shaved, then maintained shorter than half an inch if I'm not feeling shaving. About once or twice a year, depending on pain tolerance and wallet thickness, waxing happens, which is great.

Got laser hair removal on my armpits a few years ago, which has been great. I have a few stragglers, but those get plucked when I notice them.

Get my eyebrows waxed when I have time every few months, get plucked daily to maintain in between.

Hair on my head gets cut every three months, because I get split ends pretty often.

I have a mole on my neck that grows one long dark hair about once a month that I pluck out in disgust. It's not cute.

Honestly the hair on my arms and legs is getting so bushy that I'm considering trimming it... This aging thing sometimes gets on my nerves. I've never been this image conscious.
