Just read the Cliff Note's version of the character and that sounds all kind of complicated. These characters all go back in the 30-50 year range by the sound of it.

Just read about the Incredible Hulk starting from 1962 on that same page and I see how they skipped most of the backstory when they made the TV series with Bill and Lou.

I don't think it's important to get *too* hung up on backstories.

Ultimately, good comic book characters are archetypes to be played with. This is especially true with characters like Peter Quill, who are barely canonized.

That said, there are certain fundamentals that can't be fucked with...e.g. Bruce Wayne'stsparendeath is the foundation of Batman.

Unless you're in Flashback where Thomas Wayne is Batman because his wife and son were killed by the gunman.
And for that matter what is the back story on the gunman.
I think Joe Chill has gone through at least a dozen different revamps over the years.

I feel like I'm the only person left who hasn't seen this. I keep meaning to change that. I usually wait for movies to be on Netflix, then the better ones take forever to get there, and Amazon wants to milk me for rental fees........

Just looked it up. I think you are correct. Maybe I'll have to go ahead and pay to rent this one soon.

As someone who suffers from superhero fatigue, I really enjoyed it.

I watched it on the way to Iceland. I liked it. I watched it the other day and enjoyed it so much, that I watched it again with @skogafoss.

I really enjoyed this - a movie that didn't take itself too seriously. I think half the issue with comics made into movies is trying to be too serious. Not a comic book reader so nfi about these characters before seeing this.

I didn't know this comic either, but I also really liked it. I'm pretty amazed at the universal love here.
