I never really got to know Uncle Phil, I came to TFP pretty late in it's lifetime. But in a way, I still feel like I know him. When someone is a part of someplace, of someone's life, they make a lasting impression on that person or place. Every time I speak with someone who did know him, I'm speaking in part to a piece of Phil that he left with them. As long as Phil is loved and remembered he will always live on, in the lives of everyone whose life has been touched in some way by him or someone who knew him.

I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that is going will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

Marilyn, should you get to read this, be assured our deepest thoughts are with you, for we've have lost a brother, friend, and a father...

This thread has been full of many things said and I did not know what to add on. I can only say I hope all of his loved ones were around him. As he was here for us.

 

My deepest condolences to phil's family and those friends and loved ones closer to him than I. I would also like to say that in the course of watching this thread I've been humbled by many of those of you closer to him than I, and particularly what has been shared by marilyn. True strength and love displayed with complete class.

 

Thank you for this and all your previous updates, hankster. They cannot have been easy to write.

I visited this thread every day to be updated. I never knew what to say though.

My thoughts are with his family and with the TFPers who were closest to him. He was the coolest guy on this forum.

I don't know what bourbon he liked best, but I will toast him with what I have.
