Pleased to meet you, Buddah. Sorry it's under these sad circumstances.

@Cynthetic - thanks for the update. And I appreciate ... you're going though one of these times stark reality of life and death smashes through the veil of "Oh, it's the internet". It's an uncompromising Hammer of Truth of the reality of relationship, friendship, love, whatever the medium, when the people involved are sincere. I also appreciate what it's like to find yourself in the position of relay.

All strength to you, too, hankster

I haven't been around all that long but long enough to appreciate Uncle Phil's fine taste in the female form and his Funny of the Day thread which I rarely went a day without.

I'm so saddened to hear of the battle he's fighting and pray that he recovers soon and is able to join us here again.

  3. In Detroit and no call? I see how you are.:p

If, by some chance, you are still around the D tomorrow, I wouldn't mind meeting somewhere and toasting our good friend. If not.... another time.

If we got to pick our family I'd pick you for my real uncle, Phil.
You're a better one than some of mine.

    Bless you and Marilyn.

cynthetiq, thank you for taking this on for us.

Phil means a lot to all of us, I'm sure that's clear. He loved to talk Beavers with me. I always appreciated him knowing my team. I love you, Phil, hang in there.

Phil.. you will always go down as the best Ribs maker ever.

This man is equal parts snarky, classy, and with a heart of gold. I haven't sent a card yet because I haven't felt like I could even begin to say what this man has meant to me and what it was like to be able to call him a true friend. I think I will be trying to put that in words tonight.

Phil will always have the specialist place in my heart because of the Rochester gathering. Lots of times when I am down, I will pull out the photos of he and Paddy Joe in the toilet paper wedding dresses at my shower. I was SO amazed that Phil would even consider doing something like that, much less let himself be photographed...plus he looked so ridiculous it always makes me giggle. Mine and Dave's wedding experience would not have been the same without Phil

You know what defines Phil? CLASS

The man had boat loads of it. Whether it was cracking jokes, posting fine female forms or discussing forum needs, he always had a way of bringing a sobering thought while maintaining a humorous air. Even if the man didn't agree with you or thought you were a nutjob, he was always willing to hash things out in a polite and common sense manner, then after the smoke cleared, he'd pat you on the back, raise a glass and smile away the day.

    strength and hope Phil.

    Dear Phil,

Everyone has already used all the nicest words. For someone who usually isn't lacking in the words department, I'm finding it hard to come up with the words that will express what I'd like to say in the way that I'd like to say it. I'm so happy that everyone has been able to write messages to you here and that you have been able to read them. It's obvious how much you have touched the people here and I like to think that it's comforting for you to know that the time you spent here made a real difference in real people's lives. You were the first person to acknowledge me here six years ago or however long ago it was that I came here and you've always been so kind and supportive, even when I was being a, well, a bitch, lol. When I think back over the years and all the ups and downs and dramas that we've had here, I realize how deftly you managed to always stay above the fray and remain a friend to everyone (except for that willravel incident but, you know, we don't have to talk about that now :p) ). But seriously, I really respect that about you - you always understood that this was supposed to be the fun part. It's as if you've been the backbone of amity for TFP. The spirit that I'm always trying to put my finger on that keeps people coming back to this place. And it's kind of amazing that someone who wasn't exactly the flashiest or most verbose member of this site, will be the one who is the most sorely missed. Your presence will be sorely missed, Phil. It already is.

I am going to try not to fret or worry about your physical state. I know that it is very serious, but that you have your lovely wife (whom I wish I had met) to keep you as comfortable as possible. For that I know you are fortunate and it's comforting to the rest of us, too.

We love you, Phil. I love you. Kisses and hugs.

I was just greeting Marilyn in the other thread ... and in doing so realised that I'd suddenly come out with with the feelings I wanted to express here, to Phil as well as to all of us who are bidding him strength and comfort at this time.

    God damn it.

People really have very little grasp of the potential and realness that the internet can bring to us. With the illness I have I had to spend a lot, lot, lot of time at home due to my immune system and let me tell you, the internet is NOT a one trick pony. I use to be a solid member of TFP and things changed; I fucked up, others fucked up, blah, blah, blah. It doesn't matter and no one should care. Having said that my feelings for the people I still know here mean a lot to me and will until I die.

I've never spoke to any of you on the phone or in real life. It is regrettable. Especially the old man. Clearly we failed each other in this regard.

So, yes, most of us came for porn. Eveeyone knows it. Does it mean less for those who stayed here? No, it means far more.

The net is the biggest global tool of all time. It can be stupid, petty, evil, weird, fun and what have you. The only thing it is not is useless.

Sorry to have ventured off topic; I'm not hijacking the thread; bear with me.

I've lost three online friends in the last 19 years.Suicide and natural causes. One of them was Meff, from here.

So... people can go on about places like this not 'really being real'. Bullshit. It's all perspective and how you use it.

I returned for Uncle Phil, as did Buddah. Will I stay? I kind of doubt it; forums simply don't hold my interests like they use to. I feel home, though!

Uncle Phil, when you are ready just let go. I wish you could recover. I'd do anything in my power to make you whole... but I can't. I want you to live. I want to meet you and your wife. These wants are selfish and you deserve what you want. Hold on if you can, but only if you want to. I love you. If you're up to it, hold on! If not, we understand.

There is no such thing as goodbye, there is only till we meet again,
the grace offered by a love beyond what we acknowledge in the living
pulls us into the within, that reaches far beyond our own reasoning,
far beyond our own time, there is no time for goodbye, only for a new reality to begin.
I will meet you one day, I will know your face, and see you stand with ease,
I will see you without pain; I will speak with you once again,
this time is for simply pains’ ending for tossing ones’ flesh to the wind,
for in the reality of existence, we all will have to shed this skin.

Peace will honor your giving, as you have honored us with your love.
Listen to the whispers that come to you,
and know they are sent from above the consciousness of mans simple mind,
from deep within the reality of time, an echoing of existence before the beginning of life
and without the finality of goodbye, without the finality of time,
there is no such thing as goodbye, only till we meet again.

    Sweet Dreams My Friend.
I will always think kindly of you Uncle Phil,
You have touched my life as you have so many others,
time never really ends, it just begins in another reality,
one that we will all, one day, get to experience with you and share together.
I look to this day with the knowledge that I will never be alone there, and neither will any of us,
we will never be alone in this reality or the next, we all go.

It is selfish, this pain we will know to be here without you, missing you, wanting more time,
wanting more of this life with you, more of this, your reality, our reality,
it is selfish and scary to imagine now without you, to imagine time without your presence,
but present you will be, always.

One day time will collide with the streams of our tears and we will all be awash together,
swept away into the ticking of heartbeats that bring us all to the same precipice,
overlooking the stars themselves, I will see You winking until we All wink together,
pulling and pushing the waves of time, endless and forever, forever, everything, everything,
For all time, time within time, you will never be alone, we will all be with you, and you with us.

I'm thinking of you and yours, now and always.
