Myth and Kink beginning of the journey...

His painting begins this Friday. We've talked through each symbol those hidden and on display. The exchanges are extensive and pages long. each changes something, maybe a little, maybe the entire concept. Color study is done, the panel is waiting. I will help him begin his own painting journey as he has so very much he wants to say. Women, drink, vice...Pan tests and teases him as he changes his course.

She found serenity once seated upon her meditation cushion, wrapped only in her sheer plum scarf. She will glisten with gold a bellydancer and submissive, her open hands are ready to give, but only when one is worthy. The tattoo on her spine will be the lush tree behind her. The green satin under her flows like landforms and water. Ganesh watches over her inward journey.

Yesterday, we thought we knew the pose, the color palette, we had figured out which items represented which part of life. It was all wrong, or almost so. Finally frustrated we both took a few minutes to be distracted and separate. All at once it was perfect. No longer standing, pensive, defiant, now seated, stretched, and relaxed, in charge of his own path. The ball gag dangling loosely from one hand, the closed leather cuffs held in the other. Embodying Thor in demeanor and also the lightning touched landscape.

Durga the ten-armed goddess, can I paint her, I will try, this will be my biggest challenge. One that thrills me to the core. Cuuuurveeeeesss, corset, and sari one woman's journey through self and sexuality. Soon. Her erotism is potent, I will try and capture even a hint of that. We will have but one night to move from blank wooden panel to the halfway point.

He laughed and said Dream, I wrote back, do you mean Morpheus god of Dreams? Dreamscape, pleasure, Dominance, minimalistic. His tattoos will glisten in paint, his rapier near to hand. The pose is undefined as of yet, we will make it reality Thursday evening.

Aphrodite goddess of love she will be luxuriant, lounging, in bed loving herself and the attention of her admirers. Her blonde hair fluffed and reminiscent of 70's porn stars, framing her satisfied face. Toys about, saucy expression, Sparkly intense makeup, glossy lips ready for anything.

Athena & Apollo together but removed from each other each complimenting the other. Bow and arrow, sharp sword, laurel leaves, bare hearts, Strength, power. The exchange of sexual energy between them.

Talks of the Minotaur, Dionysis, guardian of the river Styx, Bast, Sobek the Crocodile God of Egyptian mythos. We'll see... some written in text, or whispers, but not yet in paint. Pandora was present but now has gone, it is probably for the best. I would love to try Hermaphrodite and Medusa (among others) but as yet none have also desired that. Each person chooses their own, this is our shared journey, not model/painter.

My own Persephone. How I embody her spirit. Defiant, naive, so many times taking the wrong path. Still, she reigns in the Underworld but longs for the green growing land above. Metal toy near to hand? Hand cannot reach it though? Rope (which color?!) bound, safe, legs akimbo as they often are, scars, roses under the rope, the thorns lightly piercing my skin. Not standing, suspended flying? Perhaps.

This journey is my beginning. Every day that I work on these pieces takes me closer to my goals. "Garden Blossoms" is after this series, but I cannot put my energy into that now. Most of my thoughts are consumed with these paintings...

Can I do this? I am. Am I learning to collaborate? Yes. Am I facing any fears? Not so far, but I'm sure that is coming. Will they mean anything to anyone else? Who's to say on that.

11 years I've wanted to start this series, sex, kink, and myth, each a personal journey. 42 is a year of magic, growth, and change, I'm bound to stumble on the way. Keep striving, never give up, and believe in a little magic.

Real questions I've sent to models (I'm collaborating with) in past few weeks...
•"Are you okay with wearing gold makeup?"
•"How about with elements of 70s or 80s pen star? Glossy lips fun makeup?-"Pen was the wrong word. Lol. "
•"Are you willing to wear heavy black eyeliner?" (to a dude that I've never seen wearing makeup)
•"...and owl caplet -facing other direction w/ feathers, or a few feathers sewn to armbands?"
•"Are you willing to wear horns? Should I make your flower headress?" (also to a dude not known for wearing flowers, but willing nonetheless)
•"Erect, not, or covered?" (figure this one out
•" So between the boobs or concealling them?"
•"Oh yes there should be glitter, are you okay with that!"
•"Will you do the tying?"


Back to the actual painting part as these panels won't paint themselves...

 

Painting nude models sounds like a fun thing to do. But, my paintings would end up like glorified stick men.

I wasn't able to find a picture of how anatomically correct that statue is. They do have this one in the same park which is better than the European statues, but still not quite there.
