Haven't thought about this in a while.

Lately I've been getting pretty into anime. I'm working through some of the "big" anime series. I watched FLCL. I'm onto Cowboy Bebop now.

I used to worry about a lot of this stuff but I try not to now. I've found that I'm happiest when I just allow myself to be the weirdo I want to be. So, I mean, yeah, I watch cartoons and play video games. Sometimes I read manga and/or comic books. I like playing board games and I might even be trying D&D in the near future. I'm sure these things make me geeky/nerdy/dorky/dweeby or whatever; I still don't actually know the difference and I don't really care enough to find out. I'm happy being the person I am and I don't really care if people are offended by that. If they are it's their problem.

I think sometimes it can be difficult to have that self-confidence. If I'm honest I do have days when I struggle with it, though they've gotten pretty rare now. But I find that I'm happiest when I can just be the person I want to be and not worry about what other people think and expect. And I've also found that most people are too wrapped up in their own shit to care anyway.

Probably a geek by ZS's chart. That said, obsessive is not quite right. Too many interests and not enough focus. Just enough in he right areas to qualify.

    I am Zelig.

Back when I started working, for a software company, in the dark ages, everyone in the profession was a nerd. Now *everyone* carries more processing power than the mini computer from that office around in their pockets. So, you are all nerds!

Beat that nerdy logic, if you can.

When I was a kid the difference was mainly flavoring where I lived. Nerds were the people who lived and breathed being one, geeks were obsessed with maybe one or two things and not as deeply, and dorks were just socially inept or unattractive but other than that not very nerdy. Since I've been building computers and deep into Science Fiction from my earliest memories I was pretty much the nerd at most of my schools. I spent my life getting called that by people who would beat and ostracize me for it, including faculty and staff. As far as I'm concerned I earned that particular title the hard way, I'm proud of it and stick with it.
