My gut reaction after watching the finale was "That's it?"

I think we became accustomed to such great cliff hanger finales in the first two seasons that this season's was a bit underwhelming. Sort of like feeding a kid candy bars and then when you hand him a healthy vegetable he throws it away and says "get this shit away from me!"

From a writing standpoint though it does make sense, with multiple storylines sort of resolved (such as the journeys Jaime and Jon Snow/Sam have been going through) and laying some foundations of what's to come.

The part I enjoyed most was Yara's "rescue" speech. I hope she kicks some ass next season. I'm interested to see how the Ironborn develop and if they become more of a "good guy" faction given that it appears they will be in conflict with the new "bad guys" in the north.

Also, as someone who has not read the books, the thing I'm most curious about is what Littlefinger will be doing in the future. It's well known he has had a creepy crush on Catelyn Stark his whole life and when he finds out what the Lannister's have done it will be interesting to see his reaction. Additionally given the recent events I doubt Catelyn's nutball sister in the Vale will be so compliant to bend to the Lannister's desire for her to marry Littlefinger.

Keep in mind that last year the next-to-last episode was the one with the biggest impact as well. It may be a pattern they wanted to repeat.

    Also, for fun:

'Dénouement' is one of the few things I remember from English class. I positively love saying it!

I agree about how annoying it is that the most profound thing some people can think to say about episode 10, the finale in a season in which about two-thirds of book three was adapted for TV, is, "Was that it?" No, dumbass(es). There's a season 4 coming up!

King Robb and his direwolf, Grey Wind's body were mutilated after the Red Wedding massacre. Robb's head was cut from his dead shoulders and Grey Wind's head treated in the same fashion. The direwolve's head was then roughly sewn on Robb's body, which was mounted atop a horse: This is how it went for Robb, his direwolf, Arya and The Hound:

Poor little Arya. Watching her come around, dazed and confused after the Hound had whacked her over the head to save her, only to see her dear brother's body attached to Grey Wind's head. It was horrifying.
I'm torn between wanting to have seen The Hound show sympathy for Arya, which was how it appeared the actor played it, or for him to keep his tough guy face on. (See below)

The hound is an interesting character. He no longer has any alliances and pretty much all the other characters hate him. Yet, he has now saved two Stark girls. He claimed that his only motivation was that he liked killing people, but it appears he might be softening up

Can't seem to finish the first book, not holding my interest I suspect. Probably better off going straight to the tv show and not knowing how badly key plot points and characters are being butchered.
Still haven't read about Borimor's death so that would still be some kind of surprise how it happens and those "Snape is actually a double/triple agent killing an already dying Dumbledore by his own request" moments would still surprise me.

Actually, George R.R. Martin is intimately involved with the project, as shown in @Fangirl's gif above. There are some minor changes, but they are typically changes Martin instigated.

That Jar Jar bit is hilarious. Lucas managed quite a feat creating one of the most hated fictional characters ever to disgrace a film.

At least he avoided becoming a human pincushion this time. Better to copy Captain Jack Harkness and alternate the way you die rather than go the same way every time. Come to think of it, Sean Bean still has not done the 'death by Dalek' route. He should consider that one next.
Edit: The king probably got jumpy when Ned.....Borimor...easier name to remember...got too close to finding out about the bastard son working for the blacksmith or something along those lines.
