I made the mistake of saying I was considering buying the first book and ended up with it as a surprise birthday gift. I shall read said book when I have some actual sleep and share my thoughts in this thread. Perhaps it is better not knowing which character is Borimor and seeing them how they are written to begin things.

 

The first 40 or so pages have been difficult to read or get interested in but I shall continue. This feels like a good subject to discuss on a per chapter basis on my own blog.
The idea about the drak-whatever not cutting their braid until they lose in combat is a good one, and reminded me of the historical account of Samson instantly.

Once you get past the whole trip to Kings Landing bit, it gets easier to read. Until the 4th book, it's all downhill from there.

That was a lot of butts for one episode.

 

I don't see it. She's taking a more dangerous road than the others.

Then again, the series is so far off in some of the story lines that it's impossible to know where HBO is going to deviate and change things. I don't mind as I know how a tv series has to adapt and change to pull a broader demographic but some of it should have been left alone in Arya's regard.

 

The book is getting better. The admittedly creative names are still difficult to follow, but this last chapter brought political scheming and incest into the mix. Pushing the kid out of the window after saving him was a nice touch.
I fully expect some serious backstabbing to be happening soon, both figuratively and literally. I also sincerely hope there are some major characters killed at the most "unlikely" moments, this style of writing sounds promising.
edit: I also discovered that CinnamonGirl is popular enough to have an author name a character after one of her dogs. Back in 1996 even, that is impressive.

What character from the book is played by Mr. Boromir in the live action version? Sean's face is the only one I can recall seeing (on here probably) aside from some chick with long light coloured blonde hair.
Being turned into a human pincushion is a good way to go, but I hope his death in this universe is even better.
