Game of Thrones *spoilers*

Well, that was the plan--to try and not have to read books 4 and 5.
There are juicy bits coming out though like Gendry, who thus far has done little, is told by Melisandre that he is the son of Robert Baratheon and he somehow ends up with leeches on him in pursuit of the 'truth' of his parentage. I'm confused already.

I guess I'll just watch the show and see if the confusion clears. The synopses are deliberately vague, add to that the comments by fanbois and girls and their interpretations. Watching and commenting half-way intelligently about this show is exhausting! Thanks for the explanation, tho!

 

If you look at Martin's website and his small forum section, you'll find that most fanbois/gurls argue over what is actually going on in the books so there is no real clarity to begin with. I wouldn't worry about it unless something really off-center happens but I'm sure this thread will blow it up.

 

I've never passed out on cam before! There may possibly be an alleged time three to four years ago where I may have self over served and decided to go to sleep on the floor of a different room after AFKing from a webcam, but that's hearsay, and I'm sure a gentleman such as yourself would never believe something like that. I heard there was some asshole named Gucci that might have believed something like that though. No one liked him.

AND, to keep this on topic... is there anyone more hate-able on television than Prince Joffrey? Good lord I wanna punch his smug face in every time he's on-screen. Especially now that he's sharing scenes with my future ex-wife, Natalie Dormer.

 

Mayhap, that gucci fucker was the inspiration for Joffrey...

Anyone think that there are any characters that are 'safe' in this series; that is, you are sure won't be killed off randomly like so many have/undoubtedly will be?

I think Daenerys is safe until at least the last book; she seems pretty integral to the storyline - everyone else is fair game.

Arya
Tyrion
Selmy
Theon
Aeron
Arienne Martell

I think another Greyjoy is confirmed but I can't remember the name. Those may be the POV characters and there are others who will be in the book obviously, but as for confirmation I think that's it. The fanbois/gurls can probably expand better.

 

As Bronn put it so eloquently in the second season, "There's no cure for being a cunt." I think that sums up that Gucci fucker pretty well.

Martin has always answered the question, "How does the book end?" with "Everyone dies." To be honest, I don't think anyone is safe except for Tyrion and Danny. I think one of those two would keep Reek around just out of pity, so he might be safe too.

I knew Jamie was going to lose his sword hand this ep and I thought it was an great scene. The scream then the awesome rendition of "The bear and the Maiden Fair" was great. I thought the small counsel scene was one those points in the show that they can show what was going on with all 6 characters without saying a word. Plus it had my favorite bad ass Tywin in it. Scenes like that make me love what they are getting away with in the show.

Also, Tri-Pod. Get it boy!

Anyway, my wife doesn't like to read much so she hasn't read the books. When Jamie lost the hand she was like "WTF?!" I laughed so goddamn hard it hurt.

There are some saying Dany is going to turn into a Demon Queen... erm, I don't see it but who knows with Martin. He'll probably end up having her be a gang-bang slut eating char-grilled usurpers.

Arya is going to be the most fascinating in W.O.W. I think. It will also be interesting to see exactly where he's going to place Selmy but I'm not expecting a whole lot.

 

Regarding Winds of Winter, I'm ready for

Dorne to be all, "fire and blood, bitches!" But, y'know, publicly.

I don't know if that's actually a spoiler. But better safe than sorry.

 

Hmmm; looks like he is going that half the characters in one book and half in the other route again. I don't know how he keeps track of it all.

Perhaps Jon Snow is safe too, if that one theory about his heritage is true.

 

Nobody has ever claimed that Martin knows how to cut corners...

I'm struggling with this series just in the sense that in the books all these girls are like 14 but in the show they've obviously made them older due to nudity etc. (thankfully)

I guess knowing how the books are, I feel like SeanMyklKing when Khaleesi is all hot and stuffs in the show
