About 1/3 of Conservatives/Republicans in the US believe Obama is Muslim, so he must be behind it.

Yes! Finally someone understands what I'm saying.

    Awesome oxymoron, dude.

Oh, you mean the guy who's going to make Sharia law the basis of the new constitution of Libya?

I understand your unwillingness to accept the fact that democracy can exist in a form other than the US model....particularly given your comments about "non-white" people.

BTW, the US were the guys who helped write the new Iraqi constitution with Sharia law as the basis.

I wonder if Eddie has a problem with American law being more or less based on Christian morals

  5. Eddie Getting Tilted

The U.S. oversaw and facilitated the process, they didn't write it. Iraqi people wrote it and then the Iraqi people voted it on it. The U.S. is there for the oil and strategic middle eastern military placement, that's it.

"more or less?" Is that a technical term?

Do you believe that conservative leaders would institutionalize Christianity if they legally could?

If so, would that, in your opinion, be better, worse, or the same as Islamic law?

  7. Eddie Getting Tilted

I think most Christians should be institutionalized.

I've been out witted by children. Also, I have not been one of the ones who have gently pointed out that a lot of what you say in this thread has been unthinking, parroted, party line talking points. There is merit in some of what you say, but just like a lot of people with your form of political turrets, you make a sudden and unexpected turn into a dark and mindless place where fact and rationale are as absent as an iPad in an Amish town.

If you want to debate ANY subject I am there. I am there with an open mind, ready to examine whatever you may have to say with a mind open to change, provided I am convinced it has merit.

    BTW

I said Intelligent, rational, thoughtful and just

My political turrets have already blown you out of the water.

He avoids a lot of questions. I wonder why.

  12. Eddie Getting Tilted

I don't avoid questions. I try to cover one point thoroughly and conclusively and then move onto the next. So if I don't answer your question it's because it was either off-point or because I simply forgot about it(for which I apologize.)

Forgive me if I've misjudged you, but you seem to either forget many of my questions or deem them off-topic (which is unlikely because they usually aren't).

I totally understand the forgetting thing though. I have a terrible memory.

  14. Eddie Getting Tilted

Yeah, usually when it's just me and one other person I can cover all my bases. But when more people join in I start to lose track of who wants what question answered.

It really is hard to remember. This board really SHOULD display every question that's asked, you know, for future reference.

It must be terrible for you that you don't have the ability to SCROLL UP AND LOOK

Oh yeah, how much more effectively does "muslim brotherhood" ring in the ears of the islamophobic than "dictator"?

The National Interim Council in Libya elected a new Interim Prime Minister yesterday.....Abdurrahim el-Keib.
Eddie...I cant find any evidence of his secret plans for jihad.

I hope this is a good sign in terms of transitioning to a democratic society. In the wake of so many dark years under Gaddafi, Libya stands a great chance of becoming a thriving nation. Libya is a largely urban and literate society (both being above 80%, which is much higher than the average in North Africa). Urbanism and education combined often lead to an engaged and self-determined populace when operating on a backdrop of democracy and free elections.

There are still a number of challenges ahead (e.g. areas that refuse to disarm for fear of losing their newfound self-determination), but free and open elections will, I hope, lead to a political process where Libyans will finally get the voices and representation they've likely craved for years. If things go well over the next several months, perhaps both Libya and Tunisia will stand as a testament to the possibility of the democratization of authoritarian states in the region.
