Feelings can't develop when your Maslow hiearchy isn't met.

I'll let you figure out where Foul Stench of a Thousand Rotten Seafood Dumpsters fits on that pyramid.

Wait, so a person isn't allowed to dump someone anymore because they aren't a match? Is that the new norm?

I think it's simply your (repeated) use of the words 'dump' and 'ditch' of another person that imply a certain callousness and douchebaggery.

    [language ot] ditch is un-polite?

IT: So Anonymoose, how is your self esteem going? seems like you've got back in the dating truck... that's something!

Yes. It implies that he had no respect for her and left for any better option, including (but not limited to) a complete lack of sex with a partner.

Wow, people... pretty sure even Dr. Phil would throw a bullshit flag up this We Are the World moment.

In the words of Dr. Seuss: It's okay to dump and ditch and suddenly curb that bitch. Life works like that.

Warm 'n fuzzy hippie shit aside, it seems respect basically comes from what you can do for other people.

But, yeah, whatever, we just want others to sugarcoat life and talk about people like they're snowflakes.

GeneticShift Show me your everything is okay face.

I have no problem with someone ending things with someone else. It happens. I've done it, it's been done to me. Life goes on. I just think this thread took a pretty intense turn with not much backstory.

What the hell do hippies have to do with anything? I swear. It seems these days if you want to put the kibosh on anyone's point of view you can simply call them a 'hippie' or a 'feminist' as if those labels invalidate their point of view in a rational world. Really, fuck that shit. The guy sounded like an asshole and then he came back and expanded on it. I hardly think he needs an advocate.

    pan6467 a triangle in a circular world.

My ex fiancee had diabetes and her snatch would stink to high heaven, BUT she was truly aware and would shower or bathe before sex, so it was never that bad.

I feel for ya man. I have no true sense of smell unless it is very potent.

If it didn't work out for you, it didn't work out. Distance is a bitch, especially with the price of gas. To say dump and ditch about a person, sounds pretty cold, especially if you have had sex. I find it best to say "we chose to go separate ways" and leave it at that unless there were some truly hard feelings.

    Just my opinion and experience.

What I hate more than hippies is binary thinking. What, we need to be a "bitch-ditching," "ho-curbing" asshole or we're "Kumbaya-singing," "daisy-chain-weaving," "We Are the World," "like-to-buy-the-world-a-Coke" hippies?

No one is sugar-coating anything. No one is talking about people like they're snowflakes.

I think people are just shocked because it appears the woman wasn't treated with at least a modest amount of respect.

But let's not jump to conclusions. We don't know exactly how he handled it.

Though I'm sure prying minds want to know.

Oh, I totally forgot the OP. I'm just trolling two pillar members because I'm cranky and the "Hey, what about the respect?!" line is way hilarious.

The old "Dating Fail" thread is a prime example of the difference between how people deal with IRL situations and their AARs on the Interwebz.

As I said earlier, the cool part about dating is that he doesn't need an excuse and doesn't have to be tripping over himself with civility to terminate.

I don't know what an AAR is. Again, 'tripping over oneself with civility' is a far cry from talking about 'dumping' someone because they had an odor.
In my recent travels, I have decided not to see men more than once for various reasons...usually because they are inadequate in bed. I surmise that if I started a thread here about them where I belittled them and talked about how I 'dumped' them or 'ditched' them because their dicks were too small or they didn't know how to fuck well, the rain of approbation would be of tsunami-like proportions. More importantly, that's not how I think of them. Internet fantasy and everfun 'playa' posturing aside, I dare to submit that we should be respectful of the people we've been casually fucking if there's been no wrongdoing between us, even when they're not looking.

Ya know, I can't believe everyone is so hung up on this term. I guess it's the same crowd that prefers the term "let go" to "fired" when talking about their employment history.

Silly high school terminology somehow becomes super serious and offensive when you hit middle age or what? I think I'm going to "make out" with my girlfriend later, too.

Only from the crowd that comes here to complain about how they aren't getting laid, have been in sexless marriages, etc.

Certainly. Except for the whole venting-to-strangers thing. I'm not sure if I'm new here but TFP is a pretty good place to do that.

If this guy wants to talk about an awkward situation with a friendly stranger, why are we going to belittle him based on nothing?

Rumor has it I showed up here half a decade ago cursing my exwife and everybody understood it was just anonymous venting.

How many of us routinely show up and do the same thing? Sometimes talking shit to strangers helps. I feel better after it.

    ...

For the record, I find Pan's use of the term "snatch" way more offensive than anything the OP said. I really dislike that term.

Sigh. Do I really need to explain the distinction? She was not his wife. She didn't do anything to him.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over this thread. If him talking about how he dumped this chick is fine, then I don't really get why our comments are not.

Or is it only acceptable to talk shit about people when they can't see it?

    Civility is way land-owning Victorian.

    Consider this a retraction.
