Food Favourite soft drink

I can't stand diet anything. I can detect artificial sweeteners in just about any drink and it takes a lot of self control not to do a "spit take." My son fed me a Cap'n & Coke using Coke Zero... once.

 

I'm a Dr Pepper man all the way. Drink WAY to much of that stuff.

 

When I visited Austria in the mid-80s, I fell in love with Almdudler, which I think is elderflower flavored or something like that. Very floral/herby without a lot of sweetness.

Also, there's a local brand called Freaky Dog Soda that makes a great cream soda.

 

I have not seen this soda everywhere but if you can find CANFIELDS DIET CHOCOLATE FUDGE, put about 1" of milk in a glass and fill with the soda...tastes almost like an EGG CREAM, if you are from Brooklyn, you know what that is.
Otherwise, I drink mostly Diet SPRITE, about 3 cans a week...
Dinner drink is a White wine spritzer....( I'm not a big drinker.....)

 

check for a company called "fentimans". (http://www.fentimans.com) here in buffalo their products are in the "health/natural" section in wegmans (best grocery store ever by the way). I'm fond of their curious cola, and ginger beer. the D&B was good, but not my favorite.

The only non-diet soda I'll drink is either Root Beer (IBC) or Ginger Ale... I loved it as a kid and still do. Mostly, I drink Diet Coke with Lime which is even better with some Rye Whiskey.

Diet Dr. Pepper with Cherry is great stuff. I just wish it went with Jack better. For some reason I can't do Dr. and Jack.

 

Since I don't drink liquor (normally), I exist on water and soft drinks.
My preferred soft drink is Coca~Cola, but I'll drink anything thrown my way.
I used to be a big Big Red fan as a child, but my tastes have changed since then, I guess, 'cause the last cream soda I had just didn't do it for me.
I'd love to try some of the more exotic soft drinks out there, but you don't find them too much in East Texas.

Speaking of cream soda... I love vanilla cream soda. I don't drink it very often though, maybe two or three times a year.

Are there flavors of cream soda other than vanilla?

Has anyone here ever been to the World of Coke in Atlanta? They have a sampling area where you can try a ton of international sodas. There is some weird stuff out there.

 

Speaking of vanilla.
My friend orders "a Coke, heavy with vanilla, easy ice" whenever we go to Sonic.
I got her drink by mistake one time and about gagged from the vanilla overload.
It tasted just right to her. ugh!

Whilst I cited Supermalt as a favourite, Dandilion and Burdock takes me back to my childhood as being one of the best drinks evar, and finding it around again a few years ago was a very happy discovery.

 

Reed's Extra Ginger Brew and Virgil's Root Beer were my top two soft drinks. Nowadays, any beverage with a fairly high sugar content is avoided.
